Upcoming Balance Changes
We don't usually provide a heads up about these changes prior to patch day, but in the spirit of supporting the folks playing in the coming tournament this weekend, here you go (these will be live this week):

The Tale of Horus Traver has had an impact on the metagame, and while we've generally been happy with the ways the format has been changed up, Bartholo, the Seducer has become a more warping influence than we'd like.

The play pattern of putting a big weapon on an early Bartholo put a little too much of the card's power into a race with first interaction points. We also believe the ultimate has the potential to be a lot of fun, at the right cost. To this end, we have increased Bartholo's cost to play by 1, but also decreased his ultimate's activation by 3.
  • Bartholo, the Seducer - Now 4JJS with Ultimate: Pay 7 (instead of 3JJS with Ultimate Pay 10)
We also wanted to give a little boost to a few faction pairs in order to further promote diversity among strategies. In particular, we were interested in improving tools for players looking for more ways to interact with some of the format's most popular threats.
  • Vara's Choice - Now 2TS (instead of 3TS)
  • Beckoning Lumen - Now 4TT 5/3 (instead of 5TT 6/4)
  • Purify - Now 2FT Spell (instead of 3FT Fast Spell)
  • Moment of Creation - Now 7FFTT (instead of 8FFTT)
  • Nostrix, Lord of Visions - Now gives +5/+5 (instead of +3/+3)
  • Shelterwing Rider - Now 0/5 (instead of 0/4)
We appreciate the feedback and experiences players have shared over the past month; and we will continue to monitor the format closely.

Whoa, that Nostrix buff. Oooh, Moment of Creation buff too.

I welcome all of these changes. And that's coming from a guy playing a lot of Bart. Never once used his ultimate.

Looking forward to the update.

Balance Changes... Let the Jank begin.
So 4-cost Bart gets rid of everyone’s favorite Bart—>falchion curve although it does make falchion while holding up protect a thing.

2-cost Vara’s choice frees it out of the clunky xenan 3-drop slot so it doesn’t compete with Ayan and banish now while making it compete with blistering wasp and vara’s favor. What split of removal would you run now in xenan? 2 choice 3 banish if the meta doesn’t change?

Purify doesn’t really do anything because Praxis is using its own dawnwalkers to counter other dawnwalkers. Praxis/FTP spellslinging sounds like a fun deck but moment of creation only makes 2 big bodies even if it does cost 1 less. Maybe if it made 5/5s for every x spells in the void?

Nostrix isn’t good because mentor isn’t good.

Either way, praise DWD for not nerfing decks to useless and buffing other cards instead :D

I crafted Bartolos yesterday :/ Can you give me full refund for disechant?
Also, where is that Tavrod nerf?
You get full refunded shiftstone for any cards you craft (but not pull from packs).

Tavrod is ok to answer on his own it’s all the good cards like Bart, falchion, and Doom put together in a deck that makes argenport one of the best decks around.

Really nice to see balance changes to keep the game fresh. Thanks Direwolf

Bart was the problem, but I still would have like Tavrod be like Heart of the Vault and require committment to Argenport colors. Tavrod isn't OP, but he is overly present in the meta, which is warping the tech cards/deck choices of the rest of the meta. Perhaps the change to Bart will reduce how often we see Tavrod.dek, but I don't think ladder will give the deck up that easily. The tournament scene should be more diverse now, but that scene caters to a small group of players due to its reliance on third party tools.

Of the other changes:

* Cool, Time finally has a 4TT unit to play :/
* Moment of Creation is close to being viable in the right deck now, I think.
* Praxis did not need a buff in Draft. It can be argued either way, but I think this is a net buff.

Balance changes feel like they barely address any of the overrepresented/overpowered cards on ladder. I guess the bart rework is nice but I don't foresee that my play experience isn't going to improve because of this.
