What happend to Layton Lakes ?
I have been hunting in layton for the first time in about 7 months, what happend to all the deer ?.
In a 4 hr hunt going from the southern most lodge by the railway bridge up north to the top of the map following the river I did not find 1 single whitetail or blacktail.
Not even any footprints, the last time i was there you couldn't walk 30 paces without finding one. All i'm getting is Moose and Bears and the odd male elk here and there. Did they cut the ammount of them or have they changed their spawn points and i'm just not looking in the right places anymore ?.

Since the ducks were introduced tne need areas around the lakes and rivers for deer seems to have dried up. On my map anyway. There's still a lot of them around but it also seems I'm encountering more herds than before. Maybe they are just no longer as scattered about the map as they used to be due to that.

For me, it's mostly that they're herding up. I seldom if ever find any lone deer out there like I tend to do with the other animals. Rest assured that once you DO find them, you'll find a lot of them.

i have thought the very same thing, where are the deer?, then i go to one of my old decent stands and suddenly i have an entire herd running around me, dropping them as fast as i can sight aquire fire, then back to where are the deer?. as soon as i think no single deer out here, one walks in front of me...so kind of the same for me as it has always been.

my population of deer went down and now have bear everywhere and i mean everywhere..
Of course, none of this happens in Calburn Canyon, where there are no animals save the one or two random elk/moose and three coyotes.

There has always been a lot of bear, which for me is good. I agree with the other posters that the deer seem to be more in herds, especially whitetail. Also not in the same “always there” spots as before the duck dlc. Finding a lot up in high lakes and the swamps. Still my favorite reserve.
