Mark made a nice post here about weapons and integrity bonus's for each animal here:

IMO, the .270 is still my favorite weapon for everything above Blacktail and Below Moose. It will take out Bears easy if you wait for them to stand up, then put a round right in their center between their arms, Spine shot does wonders.

what does the integrity bonus mean is that just i i kill the animal thta has 100% do i get some kind of bonus if i use the rigth gun

It all comes down to the size of ammo and the distance to target. Shoot a squirrel with a bazooka and maybe you can't use the squirrel for whatever you shot it for. Same applies to the ammo used in actual hunting, although the consequences are more subtle. Therefor this game has the integrity bonus system.

In the post linked above you find tables that tell you which weapon will give you 100% integrity if used properly. So take the table of your favorite weapon category, look at the animal you wanna shoot and what weapons with what ammo give the 100%. Then take a look at those weapons. Which one has the most punch? Which one is suited for the distance you expect to shoot?

In Hirschfelden, with only roe deer and fallow deer, the .270 would not be suited for a deer hunt.

Good answer however the red's are much bettet suited to a .270 i personaly prefere the .270 on fallow, get sick of tracking the commen long runners when i use a .243. Also where i shoot rl .243 is the legal min requirement for fallow, i also prefere to be a bit above the min if poss ;-)

Lol I couldn't get rid of the .243 fast enough. I hate it in game as much as I hate it in real life. I'll take the integrity penalty and use the .270(I wish the game had a .30-06...my true fav) instead.

To the OP, it really depends on what you are hunting. I usually carry the .223, .243, .270 and 7mm. This allows for a lot of flexibility depending on what you meet. I use the 223 for fox/coyote/roe deer... the .243 for fallow/black tail... the 270 on white/red... the 7mm on pretty much everything else.

I switch the 7mm to my 338 when in Europe since the bison is pretty much the only thing you need a high caliber for.

The .270 seems to me to be the most universal one. But you can't get 100% integrity bonus every time (so you can't get gold rated trophy) using just one weapon for all species.

30-30 is by far the most versatile in terms of firepower vs integrity span.

Just take some time to understand the table that was posted earlier (it's a sticky on this forum). You basically never want to use a 0% integrity "combo".. For example killing a fox with a 7mm will prevent you from getting maximum XP/credits. Same goes for using a gun too small, a 243 on a moose for example will rarely do significant damage and you'll need multiple bullets to get a kill, voiding the integrity bonus.

You can shoot the head for quicker shots, but most of the time this will ruin the trophy bonus. The most reliable way to kill stuff with calibers that are too small is to shoot the spine, but this isn't always as easy as it sounds.

Oh, I forgot about the reds. But then again I would use a 7mm on red deers.
And for the fallows, you are absolutly right! Sadly a .270 gives no integrity for them. So, I try to get a good shot at the spine with the .243.

More punch than .243 but only shoots half the distance effectively. It's personal preference what to use between those two.

As for soft point or polymer tip bullet? Actually I don't know. The description in the store is confusing as the written explanation says the opposite of what the stats say. If it is implemented correctly, the soft point should be better for smaller game and the polymer tip for larger game. Can anyone confirm this?

Actually, I think the bow is the most versatile weapon. You get arrows in three different ammo-classes, suitable for everything up to red deers or elks. (I haven't tried a bison yet.) But it's only for short distance hunting. *shrugs*
