Ogre
Is This A "Senescent" Game
I've noticed there is not a lot of traffic on the forum here. I'm enjoyingmyself, using the Scenario Edito, and playing, but very few persons are appearing on the board.

Is this part-and-parcel of us original OGRE players starting to collect our Social Security?

lol, yeah to a certain extent. In general, a lot of forums are quiet unless there's something to complain about. What kind of discussions would you like to see?
How to design, using the scenario editor.

It's a rare game that doesn't have a fued of *some* kind. :)
not quite on soc sec, but close enough. Played early on in beta, got frustrated and stopped. May pick it up again.
It really needs some fixes regarding the scenario editor.. If only...
Is it at least playable now. During beta we had numerous problems in 2-player mode, which pretty much took all the fun out of it.

Yeah, they have addressed most of the "big issues" that were real show-stoppers as far as playing a game goes. There are a few minor rules annoyances (mostly related to terrain), but the game is fairly stable at this point.

The scenario Editor still has a number of "personality quirks" that can make it difficult to work with, but without the ability to use shared scenarios in multiplayer, it doesn't matter a lot anyway.
thx, have to give it a try again

It'\s possible, but given the activity on the Steve Jackson Forums in the OGRE section ... I don't know, it seems like there ought to be a few more players posting here.

Ogre's not the complicated a game, but it is somewhat dated compared to what else is out there, especially here on Steam. Younger players are probably impatient with the slow play, no matter how cool the graphics look.

Ogre, I think, saw it's peak in the 80s, and has done well to endure this long for a digital port, but it is a niche game.

Are there games on Steam with larger player bases that you think fans of OGRE might enjoy? I played OGRE years ago but never really got into other SJG or war gaming in general.

I can't think of any off the top of my head ... I've always liked Shogun 2, but the complexity of the game doesn't lend itself to multiplayer, even though it has a strong MP base.

Yeah, just thinking about it, most of the stuff on Steam is real time based, and I think that's mostly because younger players prefer real time results when gaming.
