Multiplayer/Co-op?
First off, let me just say that I absolutely love this game. It's hilariously fun, and I've cried from laughter on multiple occasions.

Maybe I missed an update goal, but are there any plans to open this game up to a 1v1 or perhaps a co-op setting? Even if it's just via friend invite, these could be really fun.

For 1v1, I imagine selecting a map, but not being able to see your opponent's side of the field until the fight starts. It would be random chaos, but could be a sort of "best 2/3" setting, where the winner of a round has limited changes they can make make, giving the opponent a more customizable chance to counter (think current Vs. AI maps but with progressive rounds).

For co-op, we would need some beefy AI generation - not an easy feat - but it could be fun giving each teammate a specific Faction or even a couple to choose from to beat a level.

I think these would really open up some unique scenarios and even help understand strengths/weaknesses of certain units/positioning.

Worst case, I hope the devs find a way to generate random AI fights. As much as I love this game, once you've beaten the campaigns and environment levels, it doesn't feel like there's much left to do besides replay the Adventure mode and be silly.

I've also suggested the "double blind" guessing game mode before, and my partner and I have had a blast playing it ourselves by carefully positioning the camera. Official support for it (like a simple fog-of-war toggle) would be very welcome.

The level of actual strategy involved is limited, since the only information you're given is the number of units placed and their sum total cost, but high-level strategy isn't really the point of this game, is it?

The end result of this game mode is both players get to witness a battle that neither of them could have seen coming. Hilarity for everyone involved.

No! shut it! there is enough Multiplayer requests. but seriously though there is enough requests

I was hoping like a thing in multiplayer where you would have equal price as the other player and then you would press start and it would say, "Player one is ready to start!" and then the other player would place their units and then they would start and the battle would begin. If you were on offline mode, you could just play against bots. I hope Tabs makes this a thing.

At least - a local 1vs1-mode, where the other side is blacked out whilst player 1 is placing his units. And vice versa.

but where's the strategy when you can't even see what units the other player is placing? you will just be blindly placing units that you think are generally powerful. also local 1 vs 1 can be done with just 1 computer.

Ya, it literally takes the strategy out of the game, and instead its a guessing game. Like the only thing you can do is hope you win.

Yes - with 1 computer would be o.k. - in LAN better(for parallel unit placement).

If you show the units 1 player has an advantage. Yeah, you could change the player who places his unitgs or place one unit and then the other player one and so on. But that´s boring

We love to play the guessing game. Like Rock Paper Scissors. It´s very funny to guess, what your opponent is choosing. And that´s a mind strategy at least. We play usually a small tournament with 3 player. So you learn to read your enemy, what will be his next units, if he lost the last match, etc. And - we are no pro gamers. It´s a fun for some 2 hours. Non of us knows all units. It´s no hard tournament (e-sports) with money. Just for fun. So casual-players have a real chance - that´s very nice for all players. Your neighbour can join, and win. Not all games have to be perfectly strategic and fair. There are a lot of this. But some games are good at beeing unfair, depending on luck. That´s what we use TABS for...

The black half screen would be easy to implement.

We are playing like that - but we are yousing a towl: https://youtu.be/uWlwDP28H3E?t=11

Same time is only possible in LAN. And better for us is not seeing what the enemy has placed. Tataa!

Yes, we are playing the same way. It´s very unhandy, but very funny.

It´s no e-sports for a few pro-gamer,
it´s e-fun for erveryone.

Well, here's the thing. If both players can see what the other unit is placing down. Then they'll forever be stuck trying to counter each other.

EX: I place down Muskets. Then the other player places down Samurai, so I deleted my Muskets right off the bat and place down Fencers. Then... I assume you get the point.

The best way to get through this is to introduce a coin flip for who places first. Aka, loser places first because the winner gets to counter them.
Rudolf Fischer Jun 22, 2020 @ 3:34pm
Placing all units is too boring. It´s to easy to counter. Placing one after each other is boring too. Because it costs time. A black-Screen-Half would be perfect.

We don´t wan´t to see, what the other player has placed for units. The suppose & surprise is part of the fun for us.

I mean, there can be 2 modes, strategic and wacky. I do find hilarious and surprising things fun, but sometimes I also find using strategy fun, especially when it works.
strategic is where, like caduceus said, you flip a coin or roll a dice and the loser goes first in placing units. you start off with 1000 coins. in the first round, both players can place any unit. but the winner and loser are restricted to two randomly picked factions in the next round(secret faction has less chance to get chosen) to add on to their army and are given 1000 coins each. the winner gets an additional 500 but places after the loser. the loser can either keep or reset their army. keep in mind that the reset army does not have the variety of units that could have been placed in the very first round. so when the first round has been won, the loser could have a reset army and 2000 coins while the winner could have 2500 coins. keep going until best of how many rounds you want to play.
the wacky is what you have described.
inspired by TABS horse. check out angory tom on youtube.
anyone can give feedback on the strategic mode.
edit: the winner outbalances the loser too much so i guess the loser should get the additional 500 every round. not the winner. some more expensive units are locked. maybe there can be an additional option every round to pass 100 - 1500 coins to next round for a more expensive but powerful unit.

There are other games like Fall Gyus, which aren´t pro-gamer multiplayer games. Just Fun-gamer one´s with a high portion of luck.

So please devs - take a look into multiplayer. No network-code has to be implemeneted. Make SingleScreen-Multiplayer. Just make one screen black, at the moment player 1 adds his units. And after that the screenhalf of the other player, who just has placed his unis.

Or simply hide the placed units.

It´s pretty tiny work, for high fun upgrade. An a lot of streamers would make vids of it and so do some advertisment.

It would be so easy. Who´s interested in this simple multiplayer-mode, please write the devs some lines or just the youtube-vid, so they can get the idea:

thx, did the devs say anything about this simple multiplayer-mode without network-code? If they give me the game-code, i could do this in about 4-6 hours.
