[Spoilers] Help with Chapter 7 B Side

So I am all for a challege, but Chapter 7 B Side has me ready to drop the game completely.

There is a movement tech that they explain right after the 7 flag, which involves dashing, jumping, and holding up. From what I can tell, this is all it requires, but for some reason, I can't get it to function properly, and I'm dying a lot from bonking my head or the move literally just not working.

Is there some step in this process that I'm missing? Or is it just that finicky and I need to keep trying?

It doesn't help it feels like this was explained poorly and there is zero chance to practice it, as you're basically immidately thrown into it with one of the hardest stages in the game.

You don't need to hold up, rather just dash straight up.
As soon as you touch the side of the platform while dashing, tap the jump button to perform a wall kick.

You'll notice a significant boost when executed properly.

essentially you want to dash up into the side of the wall and then do a wall jump, it will give you more upward momentum than a regular wall jump. I actually just got here myself and am stuck on flag 3 >.<

And passed, i actually like that when you progress through the harder stages it introduces harder mechanics. : 3

Bumping for visibility. The "tutorials" in this game ... well, this and the one were you jump as you exit the dream blob ... are hot trash. Google should have to be a games' instruction manual.

They're being improved in the 1.2 patch.

I had the same problem, but got it eventually. I'd describe the move sequence thusly: (Holding up the whole time) [Hold jump] [Dash] [Let off jump] [Jump again when level with block]

You've got to be pretty fast with the buttons, but that should do it.
