Anyone know how to fix lag?

I just bought L4D and L4D2 yesterday, and on top of being new to the game I am suffering from crippling lag. Anyone know how to improve?

First try lowering the graphics settings, if that doesn't work you could start your computer's task manager go to process and set the game to high priority.

I have a mac, but more importiantly-- why on earth would I buy an entirely new computer to play a game that cost less than 30 bucks? Or even better, why not solve the problem a more efficent way, like the first 3 people explained, and not, ya know, waste hunderds of dollars. Not trying to dump on you guys or anything but that answer was fairly ridiclious, seriously.

Oh, well looking at it now, it seems kind of obious XD Then again when you're on the internet you never can tell with some people :)

L4D1 doesn't lag as much as L4D2 for me. I have everything set down as low as it goes. Also, TF2 doesn't really lag at all normally, and sometimes games run better after playing TF2 for a while, almost as if I have 'reminded' my computer that it can run some games pretty well.

I have Found a Fix , i had the same problem. This is really important , : Do u have left 4 dead 1 and 2 and the beta installed? if so uninstall the one you dont play


example: if i wanted to play left 4 dead 2 ill have to uninstall left 4 dead one and the beta.

What kind of lag are we talking about?

Network or preformance?

And macs were never designed with gaming in mind.. They are overpriced garbage.. No offense.
