The game does not launch at all: Sorcerer King Rivals
First time I installed the game, it was ok and work perfectly, but due to some reason, I uninstalled the game, then after a while, I re-installed the game, then this game couldn't launch at all. I checked and tries Stardock's troubleshooting tips, but it did not work. Please kindly help me. I want to play this game. Once it worked and then now didn't.

Ensure that Windows Controlled Folder access is not enabled.

Hello,
Wow, I am so impressed with your response ! I am just a fan of Stardock and didn't expect a quick response from the developer ! According to your link, I checked my W10, but mine was Home edition, not a Pro edition, and the page description is different what I could find in your link. No ransomeware protection box. And I checked it in the web, then I found I need to make some batch file etc, so it is a bit difficult for me, but I now try to do it. I will post my result after I try out this. But I do not understand why I can't start this game at the second time installation. First time installation had no problem at all. Troubleshooting page told me a lot of tips, but could not work out. I checked at the game folder and found out "error damp" file, but I have no knowledge about the analysis on this error damp file I keep you informed my result. Anyway, very very impressive response from the developer. I love Stardock much more.

Thank you for your support. I am really impressed with your help. I did many things, but it didn't work. I feel very sad..., I can't play and enjoy Stardoc's game. What I did is,
1. As instructed, I checked debug.err file, it tells.

2. Windows controlled folder access, I read your link and some more from the net, I tried to change registry value, because it shows, enabled (1). I tried to change disabled, but pc tells, error occurred. Then, I used powershell to change, but still error message comes. I can't change the value of CFA.

I could play this game before with no problem, but now can't play. I really feel sad. I am just a game player, not a computer programmer, and very difficult to find a solution by myself.

I hope you can help me and let me play with this game...

One more information. I use notebook PC, ASUS, and intel video + nvidia video system, and I use anti-virus Kaspersky.
I assumed Kaspersky controlled windows controlled access folder registry, and I went to Kaspersky and found a related menu, which tells controlling malware, others to check, etc.
So, I turned off this function, but it did not work.

Actually, when I first time installed this game, I already used Kaspersky, so I think the interference of this anti-virus software has less possibility.

I really feel pity this game does not work. First time it worked perfect and now it didn't.

I want to play this game.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

If you delete the folder:

\Documents\My Games\SorcererKing

And run the game again, is a new folder created?

If so, please post a shared link (GoogleDrive, OneDrive, DropBox, etc) to:

-Debug.err file
-A DXDiag.exe run

Thank you so much for you to spend a time for a fan like me. Not like the other major developer, Stardock can answer for an inquiry, impressive.

As instructed, I did it. after deleting the folder, yes, it was created again. And I attached a link of 2 file ? as below. But due to my poor knowledge, I could paste debug.err file, but I could not understand "A DXDiag.exe run". So, I just paste dxdiag analysis file. Please kindly let me know what exactly it means.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

In the “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sorcerer King - Rivals\” directory rename your SDNXLFonts.dll file to SDNXLFonts.OLD.

Try to run the game again...

If that fails...

Your video drivers could be newer for both your video cards:

Intel:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Nvidia:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Reboot and try again.

If that fails, open your prefs.ini in notepad and edit these values to the ones below:

DisplayWidth=1280
DisplayHeight=720
UseDesktopResolution=0
Fullscreen=0

Save and try to run the game again.

Thank you so much for your continuous support.

Unfortunately, it still does not work out of the situation. Since first time, it could install and play with no problem, and between now and then, there must be something interfering with launching the game, but I am poor to hunt for the cause and cure it. For your reference, there is piling up the crash record file ?? in the game directory, so I attached a link as below.

Must be something there, it may be just a small hook. I want to hunt for it and smash it.

I think if I delete my PC OS and reinstall Win10 again, make it fresh and start the game, it must be ok to play, but I do not have a power to challenge it. I do not want to give up this game since once I could play this perfectly and enjoy. If you have no more tips, please feel free to give up my case. I do not want to disturb your precious time.

Hello,

One thing I would like to add on the result. After changed as instructed, I tried to run the game, but couldn't make it. But after I let my pc in a sleep mode, then 6-7 hours later, I get my pc back to wake up and tried to start the game, then !! It worked, I think resolution was fixed as 1280x720, but main menu screen came up and I can play the game.

However once I exit the game and tried to launch, never came back.

I feel the right solution is just around the corner, but I really can't figure out.

It is really pity a right answer is just over there, but can't come close to that.

HI,

Please allow me to report one more thing.

one of 5 or 10 times of pushing launching button, the game starts. But the size of the game is, maybe, 1280x768 ? resolution and can play but small screen, so can't play well with small characters, difficult to read.

At the options, I can choose 1920x1080 resolution, but pop up asks re-start game, then, the game won't start again.

This is a latest situation.

The exit is around the corner. Please let me play this game.

You can try other resolutions. Try:

DisplayWidth=1920
DisplayHeight=1080
UseDesktopResolution=0
Fullscreen=0

And to keep it that way, try turning of game sync prior to saving it:

Thank you so much for your continuous touch on my case.

Surprisingly, after following your instruction, finally the game could start WoW !!
Resolution is 1920x1080. Now I could read characters. However, starting screen is just a black screen with gold cursor. This makes me feel a bit uneasy, but after a while, game will be launched.

I still could not understand what was wrong with my setting, but well, I may not be able to understand the reason even you explain it though.

Anyway, I really surprised and appreciated the big name developer directly answered for my tiny voice for a help, and have kept assisting for solving a trouble. This is really fantastic and amazing. This kind of behavior has long lost from the other big name developers. The stardock still has it. I hope my case can be a reference for the other players which has same sort of problem with mine.

Thank you again and I will start playing this game. Exciting !!
