Crazy long load times
I have a beast of a machine and I'm getting load times of up to 5 minutes... it will eventually load, but obviously something is not right and it's not my machine

My PC is decent, yes the loading is longer than some other games(open world?) but not in the 5 minutes mark, perhaps 2-3 minutes tops.

My game is installed on an SSD and is still taking 2-5min to load, Is it the fastest SSD? no but like its still several times faster than anything in this generations consoles and it doesnt seem like they have this problem so something is clearly wrong with the game and i hope that they fix it soon.

I'm having crazy long load times too, and I'm on an M.2 drive. PC Specs:

I9-9900ks
Nvidia 2080ti
64gb Corsair Ram

I tried switching drives, but still having the long load times. Extremely long, the games runs super smooth though, but I also can't get past the tutorial. Infinite loading screen there.

Yep, seems like our best bet is to wait until someone figures out how to fix this.

yeah same like 1 min load time on M.2 gen 4 SSD
Mawthra Mar 13, 2020 @ 5:46pm
Like others... have two Gen 4 M.2's in RAID-0 that does 10,000MB/s reads... 2080 Ti, 32GB of 3600MHz RAM, 3950X and it's pretty much unplayable for me right now... guess I'll have to wait for some patches

Mine's on an old HDD because my SDD is full. Load times of maybe 5 seconds. So either your PC isn't as good as you think, or the game is poorly optimised.
Same problem with m.2 970 Evo.

the heck are you talking about? SSD is the best thing you can get for loading time. That's like saying the Bugatti Veyron is not a good car for drag racing! :steamfacepalm:
And 5 seconds with HDD? I think that's not possible.

Well, it is possible lol I played it for hours with very fast load times. When you say load times, are you talking about booting the game up? Also, SSD isn't the only important thing. Could be that your graphics card can't cope with the settings you have enabled etc.

Meh, without proof, I'm simply skeptical.

I mean, the guy right above you has the best system we can afford as consumers right now, and you're saying (and sounds like a general conclusion), it's like their hardware is at fault. Sure, every system is different, but for this, I think it's not the case.

It's on the loading screen where you get all the tips.. I have an old system from 5 years ago, except the M.2 SSD, and for gaming it's still the same performance as ryzen 2600/2700 and 1060 3GB, and when it was loaded, I played it on 1080p Maxed settings, easily 60fps, capped.

I owned this game for windows back when it was first released, and it did not take near as long to load as it does now. The graphics are not that big of an upgrade, and the game mechanics are the same. It should not take this long to load, this needs to be addressed in the next patch, I mean DAMN!
ToxorAxiom Mar 13, 2020 @ 6:52pm
I timed it: loading into the first map three hours in takes (from the first main menu) 3 full minutes on my SSD. Why?
Honelith Mar 13, 2020 @ 6:56pm
Yeah, I was surprised at how long it took to load once you select your community. Don't remember original SoD2 doing that.

but why would I lie about this? for the record, I have a 1080ti and an i7 9th gen CPU. I would be more than happy to record the load times if you think I am making it up lol

Well, it is their hardware at fault technically. The developer hasn't optimised it well, which was a possibility that I mentioned in my first comment.
