then sold the relic thinking it was one you didn't want. you can still get a new one (and better ones in TVHM/UVHM)
but like allready said, it's not realy THAT great of a relic. maybe when used for powerleveling but appart from that i see litlle to no value... as i hit 50 with axton yesterday in TVHM and about to "end it" and just played story misions and the occasional side mision to get my char back on the same level as the story mision. and in UVHM you'll be far better off boosting your cooldown or damage.
BTW - never ran this type of game before - Normal mode is up to 'what' xp level?
At what point do I trigger TVHM, and then similarly, at what xp level does one trigger UVHM1 and 2? (I"ve both expansions...)
Yeah, no need to miss the relic, but I would certainly be concerned over the underlying phenomenon. I don't have a good suggestion there, aside from the usual "verify the game cache." FWIW you can force the game to save at any point by disabling and/or enabling badass rank. So if this is a problem for you, you might consider doing that any time you find gear you consider to be very much worth keeping. Then if you crash, your equipment will be saved.
Each mode is a completely separate playthrough, where you can complete all of the same missions, starting back at the beginning (Liar's Berg, etc.). When you complete the last story mission in the main game in one mode, you unlock the next mode for that character. After that, when you select that character, you can choose which mode to load in. The mission progress is saved separately for each mode.
You mentioned normally being over-leveled for the missions. Note that, if you have a level cap increase, you probably don't want to be much above level 50 when you start UVHM. UVHM always scales to your character level (and the enemies have more health and health regen), but you won't find any gear above 50 in TVHM (except in the Golden chest). If you're much above 50 when you start UVHM, but still using gear that is mostly 50 or lower, you could have a really hard time.
As for the relic that disappeared, I've seen others post about equipped gear that seemed to just be gone when they reloaded a character. I have no idea what causes it. I've been playing since release and, AFAIK, it's never happened to me. But apparently it does happen sometimes.
