XP Boost Relic disapeared from Inventory?
Just got to 30, and I"m just past the point of 'rescuing' Angel - as first Runthrough, playing Axton.

Ran around on Sawtooth Cauldron, got lost, re-found the Fast Travel point, got back to Sanctuary, turned iin "Find Kai" job to Marcus.

Rebooted after dinner, and found, to my horror, the XP Boost Relic I got early on due to a story mission (I think) has vanished! It was equipped at the time I logged out....

I *did* have a couple cases before this run of "program crash", and a "Pointman" mod had similarly gone missing... but those are easily found. And no such crash happened during this run...

Am I screwed here? Is there more than one Xp boosting Relic to be found on first runthorugh?

Any advice would be helpful.

If it helps, this was "Moxxi's Endowment"...

It's not worth worrying over a 4-10% XP boost. That is, IMHO, literally one of the most pointless relics you can equip. Do also note that the relic does nothing to boost mission XP, only combat XP. Why not equip a relic that boosts your combat stats, and lets you kill enemies 4-10% faster? You'll get the same XP. I would argue that a relic boosting your cooldown, rate of fire, elemental damage etc will do that and more.

Taken that way, I suppose. It's just that 'losing' a unique item due to a loading glitch just 'bugs' me, hah.

You said it was equipped so you may have accidentally swapped it for a different relic. Is your relic slot empty or is a different relic in it now?

could be you swaped it out thinking you where picking up ammo (holding E will equip what ever you point at)

then sold the relic thinking it was one you didn't want. you can still get a new one (and better ones in TVHM/UVHM)

but like allready said, it's not realy THAT great of a relic. maybe when used for powerleveling but appart from that i see litlle to no value... as i hit 50 with axton yesterday in TVHM and about to "end it" and just played story misions and the occasional side mision to get my char back on the same level as the story mision. and in UVHM you'll be far better off boosting your cooldown or damage.

The slot was empty when I rebooted; also, I'm 98% sure I didnt' hotswap with a generic pick up, as I know about the 'hold e, swap with whatever's on ground' issue...

BTW - never ran this type of game before - Normal mode is up to 'what' xp level?

At what point do I trigger TVHM, and then similarly, at what xp level does one trigger UVHM1 and 2? (I"ve both expansions...)

TVHM opens up when you complete the story mission on normal mode. UVHM when you complete it on TVHM.

So, those modes open up as a automatic thing, then - not at xp level? I tend to over level before doing a story mission by 2-5 levels hehe....

Right. When you complete one mode, you can play the game over in the higher mode (while retaining your levels/items/skills.)

Yeah, no need to miss the relic, but I would certainly be concerned over the underlying phenomenon. I don't have a good suggestion there, aside from the usual "verify the game cache." FWIW you can force the game to save at any point by disabling and/or enabling badass rank. So if this is a problem for you, you might consider doing that any time you find gear you consider to be very much worth keeping. Then if you crash, your equipment will be saved.

Each mode is a completely separate playthrough, where you can complete all of the same missions, starting back at the beginning (Liar's Berg, etc.). When you complete the last story mission in the main game in one mode, you unlock the next mode for that character. After that, when you select that character, you can choose which mode to load in. The mission progress is saved separately for each mode.

You mentioned normally being over-leveled for the missions. Note that, if you have a level cap increase, you probably don't want to be much above level 50 when you start UVHM. UVHM always scales to your character level (and the enemies have more health and health regen), but you won't find any gear above 50 in TVHM (except in the Golden chest). If you're much above 50 when you start UVHM, but still using gear that is mostly 50 or lower, you could have a really hard time.

As for the relic that disappeared, I've seen others post about equipped gear that seemed to just be gone when they reloaded a character. I have no idea what causes it. I've been playing since release and, AFAIK, it's never happened to me. But apparently it does happen sometimes.

Thanks for the Mode clarifications; just what I was needing. The advice on the 50/UVHM issue is noted; I really didn't know that was going to be the case, and would have been in likely trouble!
