Please Read - How To Use The Forum
1. Looking for Players and Coop Partners

Please use the proper subforum (<Link) aptly named "Looking for Players".

Everyone posting friend requests and other topics of this nature adds to the clutter in the general discussions. This subforum has been created specifically for this reason.

This includes people looking for or offering to "help" (sigh) with leveling.

Please include your region and level range as well, this helps finding "compatible" players more quickly.

2. Trading In-Game Items and Item Requests

Again, please use the proper subforum (<Link) called "In-Game Trading".

Same as above, posting item requests and offers belong in the specifically made subforum to cut down on the clutter on the discussion page.

This includes people looking for or offering to use Gibbed (sigh) and dupe (sigh).
Item related requests and offers should be posted there.

3. Technical Problems

Before you even try to explain your problem, it is a good idea to follow these steps:
Verifying Game Cache (<Link)
Doing this can eliminate problems right away and it only takes a few minutes. If your problem is a very common and well-known one, chances are that the above is all you need.

Also, there is a pinned thread on the main page titled "Read First: Installation Issues..." that has more detailed "common" problem solving approaches and is a good way to start.

In case that didn't help you:
And again, there is a subforum for this (<Link) called "Community Support"

This is especially important since a number of "veterans" with computer problems in general and Borderlands specifically look through this subforum and not the general discussions.
You are much more likely to quickly find someone there trying to help you and it again minimizes the clutter on the main page.

Try to be as specific with your problem as possible, including your PC specs in case you think the issue may be hardware related - This way, help can be given much faster.
We see threads now and then going "It's not working? Halp?" which is not only useless but also means someone willing to help has to ask what you are even on about.

Try to explain in detail what's going on, to the best of your ability - The more details you can give, the faster your issue can be resolved.

Thank you for reading. Have fun.

UPDATE

We recently had someone who thought this post is all that's needed as far as Steam forum rules go.

Just in case this happens again:

This post is not official.
That is not to say the above points are to be ignored, as they are part of the official ruleset.
It is just a reminder to please keep the general discussions clean, because it is apparently very hard for a lot of people to think for a minute before posting something.

If you want the actual, full forum rules and guidelines, there's a button to call them up on the main page.

Page three within 7 hours. Well, that failed.

Sadly, because the only posts new people read are the powerleveling ones.

And if we could keep capped titles to a minimum that would be great.

That and trying to cram the entire post in the title, some only have see title as a post.:steamfacepalm:

Shameless bump

You can always contact Steam moderators here: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/moderators

Bumping and thus breaking the rules is not really a good showing of leading by example.

Patience is also a virtue.

Point taken.
Please note that (my) bumping happened after many hours and the topic being on page three most times. I'd say that is a reasonable amount of time, but you are right of course.

Also, at this time I did not realize someone would have contacted a moderator, unless you happened by by chance, so there is that too.

Finally, my "futility" and "failed" comments were not aimed at moderation but rather at the fact that the people ignoring the subforums also tend to ignore the pinned threads, so that this is probably not exactly world-changing for what's going on here.

Anyway, thank you very much for the pin and the additional info.

I took the liberty of doing so, some of the mods are a pleasure to deal with :-) May I suggest that those guys who bumped the thread shamelessly, cleans up their posts by hitting the delete post button?
