Denuvo Anti-Tamper
I have seen some conversations about our use of Denuvo anti-tamper, and I wanted to take a moment to address it. We have had discussions about Denuvo internally, and one of the key points of all of those discussions have simply been, we want to ensure the best gaming experience for RiME players. RiME is a very personal experience told through both sight and sound. When a game is cracked, it runs the risk of creating issues with both of those items, and we want to do everything we can to preserve this quality in RiME.

We are very committed to this, but also to the simple fact that nothing is infallible. That being said, if RIME is cracked we will release a Denuvo free version of RiME and update existing platforms.

So legit buyers will get the better version when the game is cracked?

That sounds like a really scummy business practice.

"we don't want pirates to have a poor experience"
counterproductive. I'm not risking $30 on a product that looks underwhelming, doesn't reliably work offline, and isn't native on my OS.

chances are, it will be cracked in a month like most Denuvo titles, and that will suffice as a demo.
Really Crack will cause performance issues that is your excuse. Do you really want people to believe this lie.
Pirates will play the better version of the game!
Thanks devs for treating your customers like idiots!

Glorious!

I heard some dumb♥♥♥♥♥♥in my time, but you buddy take it one step further.

I know what ruins a personal experience - not being able to play the game when your net drops. Really makes you think, huh.

Are you actually implying you want to protect the would-be pirates' experience by denying it to them AND limiting paying users? Did your PR BS generator go haywire or something?

What a laughable excuse. If there's no anti-tamper (only Steam DRM), there's no way Steam emulators (used for cracking Steam games) can cause issues with graphics or sound. Instead of wasting your money on Denuvo make sure you make a better game, so players can have "best gaming experience."

You know what is hurting my personal experience with a game? Developers using anti-consumer DRMs in their game.

Hey guys,

While you don't have to agree with what I am saying, lets try to remain civil please? We made the decision to use Denuvo to protect the game getting pirated. That is the simple fact of it. Denuvo is not DRM, it is anti tamper software.

As I mentioned in the above post, if RiME gets cracked, we plan to update the versions across all platforms with the Denuvo free version of the game.

Then you should have mentioned that not performance issue bs because everyone knows that is not true. And for your argument regarding the Denuvo protecting early sales that has been proven wrong again and again. Hope you made a better decision.

Everybody sing The Denuvo Song:
♪Denuvo Denuvo it's messing up your game.
It's driving down the frame rates and driving us insane.
It won't be long before it's cracked so please throw it away.
Are two whole weeks kept pirate free worth mixed reviews today?♪

Your reasoning for using Denuvo is the most hilarious thing I've read recently. At least speak plainly instead of posting such a hilarious pile of nonsense, talking down to people as if we're all intellectually stunted. Why exactly would a cracked version of your game impact your holy and most glorious sight and sound experience? Please do tell us, I'm positively brimming with curiosity and hunger for such marvelous enlightenment! :)

Now you also have your legitimate customers, such as myself, cheering for the pirates to do their work so that you can make good on your promise and remove Denuvo. Bravo.

This... this is good :)

So wait, let me get this straight, you put Denuvo onto your game to make the game better? How exactly does not having it ruin the experience? And you plan to remove it after it gets cracked? And what the hell is the point in that? You pay for a piece of anti-tamper to stop piracy knowing it will stop working with the plan to remove. You spend money you could have easily put into making the game better or increasing marketing onto something you know anticipate not working.
This is some load of crap lol.

Denuvo can make people unable to play the game in certain circustances, how that ensures the "best gaming experience for RiME players"? wanna know what ensures good gaming experience? Optmization, something you clearly dont have...

Its a SP game and you just put a online DRM on it, very smart.

Just tell people you dont wanna lose on sales lol, we all know thats the reason.

The performance issues that players are facing is not related to Denuvo, and I am sorry if it came across that I implied that. We are investigating what is causing that, and if you are personally having those issues please reach out to http://support.greybox.com

As for the second point. If you modify a games files to circumvent anti-tamper software, or to pirate a game, you also run the risk of having adverise effects on the way the game will play.

All things being equal, the only thing that I will continue to say is, we don't have to agree with each other, and probably won't, and that is okay. The reality of the situation is as I mentioned above.
