Update notes (current version 1.0.0)
Hey folks,

In this thread we'll we'll keep an update log for the game. We have seen in some early reviews that the game may be a tad too hard (or unfairly so), and while we want the game to be hard, there are some adjustments we will make post-launch that hopefully achieve the perfect balance a roguelike game like Has-Been Heroes needs.

We've released a Day 1 patch already live at the time the game went live, version is still 1.0.0.

RELEASED PATCHES
Here's the Day 1 patch notes:

* Game balance for release
* Game stability fixes
* Gameplay improvements
* User interface improvements
* Additional and improved visual effects
* Additional tips displayed in the main menu to help players grasp the game better
* Ability to play endings from menu
* Spell element teaser after each elemental boss battle
* Cleared battles now give an extra bonus

UPCOMING PATCHES
We plan to release another update very soon, possibly even during this week, Thursday-Friday (March 30th/31st). Here's our preliminary change log:

* Gameplay: Hitting over enemy Stamina now has a damage penalty of -10% instead of -25%
* Gameplay: Skeleton Leader, who speeds up nearby enemies, now always walks into the battle, never spawns in the middle
* Gameplay: Red-bandana "Boxer" Skeleton Boss health now 1450 (was 1825)
* Gameplay: Heroes' lane backstab damage increase
* Gameplay: Changes and fixes to Summon Boar spell
* User interface: Helpful popup screen at the start of the game to explain Stamina

We'll be updating this thread with the latest notes as the updates go live.

- Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Has-Been Heroes

Hey Joel! I am playing on the Switch.

I downloaded the day 1 patch, but during battles -25% damage still pops up if I hit over the stamina amount.

I know my game actually updated because I see the stamina tip that was added to the main menu.

I don't think this has been applied to the switch game? I am seeing build 1164 if that helps

Edit: Ah, i reread it and i get it now... really enjoying the game, looking forward to the next patch!

Ah, I was thinking those were the patch notes for the day 1 update. After updating it says V1.0.0 and Build 1164.

I agree that it can be a bit confusing that we have already posted upcoming patch notes and not the Day 1 notes. :)

Unfortunately I don't have the whole change log of the Day1 patch at hand, but there was a lot of balancing and we added the "battle clear bonus". There is also a tip about the stamina already in the game, but in the upcoming patch we will tell about it even more clearly.

Yeah sorry, left that out originally. I've now added the notes to the first post, and here they are as well:

The -25% instead of -10% seems like a pretty big change in difficulty. Is there any plan for different difficulty modes in the future?

Thanks for clearing that up. I am having a lot of fun with the game and can't wait to see future improvements.

Not planned at the moment. The difference might sound huge but personally I think that it might not affect that much. Probably because I always try to match the stamina with the hits so that there will be no penalty. But remember to tell us your opinion about the change after the patch. :)

Hello Frozenbyte developers, I'm currently playing Has-Been Heroes on XBOX ONE and loving the game so far. I had two questions regarding the new updates you have outlined here:
1) Are they still on track to be released today or tomorrow?
2) When they are released, will it be simultaneous across all platforms or will it appear first on STEAM and later on the consoles?
EllaFB  [developer] Mar 31, 2017 @ 1:04am
Unfortunately we don't have exact date for the patch yet (I shall ask Joel when he arrives at work as he knows better).

Patches will probably arrive sooner on Steam as they don't have to be "processed" like the console patches do.

Hello Joel, I got this game on steam. Great game, lots of fun.

Does the game provide information about the little icons next to the enemies? I can't seem to select them to find out what they mean?

Also, do you plan to add more information about the gameplay in general? I think higher combos do more damage but I'm not certain. That kind of information.

Thank you.

EllaFB  [developer] Apr 4, 2017 @ 4:36am
I'm not Joel but hopefully I can provide some answers. ;)

Those small icons mark that the enemy is immune to the effect. So if the enemy has a small heart, that means that it's immune to charm. Please let us know if there is some symbol that you're confused about. Same symbols can be found from the spells when you highlight them.

There is actually also some other factors that affect the combo too. Some spells can e.g. give a 50% more damage to next combo. At the moment we're not planning on adding more gameplay tips into the game. But we're always happy to help with any questions that might arise. Steam discussions area is also full of useful gameplay tips you might want to take a look at. :)
