Why can't I hear anybody over voice chat after reducing in-game sound effects???

I mean it's not like I'm using a pair of ear buds or anything, which it seems like the incredibly rude player base expects me to use, but I still can't hear what people in-game are saying over voice chat. Is there anything I can do to make it better?

They need to add an option to cut volume in game by 25%-50%-75%-100% when someone is talking. Not only that but the ability to boost voice speak in game.

+infinity got audio processing disorder and that makes it near impossible to understand my teammates without being able to a) reduce effects volume without reducing voice volume b) boost voice volume c) attenuate game sound while receiving/sending voice

What sound device are you using? onboard nvidia/realtek or a proper sound card?

that's not a proper sound card, that's a scam. Creative have always had massive driver issues.
Switch back your onboard. You'll get better volume and quality.

yeah the drivers of creative are not the best, though the quality of the sound is real neat. The onboard is definitely worse. So what would you suggest as a proper soundcard? (anyways i do not think the problems are driver or soundcard based)

I've been using a Yamaha based card, CMI8738 C-Media.
Worked wonders for me, has great sound quality. Even sounds good with my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ logiteck x550's


Problem is, finding an sound card non-creative based is extremely difficult and i've got practically the only 5.1 model of non-creative card ever made. It's outdated technology by now and while it gives me better sound quailty than my old onbard on my intel Core2Duo system, i doubt it'd even give me better quality than my current Bulldozer platform. The Ga-990FXA-UD7 motherboard comes with a 7.1channel realtek that has more features and sounds probably just as good. I just had to get official realtek drivers from the website to enable some of the features.

I'd argue that it definately sounds equal to a creative card though. The era of onboard being wrose than creative is long gone, has been for aronud 5 years. Previously you needed to spend $400-600 on a motherboard to get that quality of sound included, but not so much anymore. Sound technology hit it's ceiling years ago and won't get any better for quite a while.

the sound effects slider is tied to the voice slider think of it like a master sound slider that you see in most games, so you'll have to find a happy medium in volume

Could this please be addressed in a near future release? I would love to effectively work together with my team, but this questionable feature design is making it very difficult to do with my limited ability to hear. Thank you.

Does anyone know if this has been addressed and if not what do you suggest for improving the sound volume of other players (using a mic)?
