Can't Play It, Keeps Going Back to Desktop

So I optimize it and don't like the smaller window so I change it to fullscreen. Now all I get is a half-second of black screen and it goes straight to desktop every single dang time. I can't play it!!!

It is apparant to me that there are more than a few who have my same issue. Hopefully this gets fixed or at least we get some feedback.

My current workaround is to spam click until I see the game. Takes me a minute at most.

Same thing happens to me, except I get about 2-5 minutes of gametime before it blanks me back to desktop.

Howdy,

First of all there seems to be a memory leak when you are alt tabbed. so if you are crashing after a while probably want to avoid that.

If you are crashing on startup it is going to be something about your configuration. It would help to see what you have in %appdata%/Natural Selection 2/log.txt

If you want a tool to pile everything together there is a tool in the root of the game called techsupport.exe it makes a zip with all kinds of data about your machine that might help diagnose things.

When you say crashing, do you mean my computer crashing or the game crashing?

I have the same problem.

When I am trying to start the game bouth from steam and directly from folder, my screen goes black.

I cant do anything cant press ALT + TAP, cant press CTRL + ALT+ DELETE, the only thing i can is shutting down my system by pressing the close button on my computer.

I bought the Deluxe version today, hoping i could game with my friends. but nothing works.

Please find a solution for this product ASAP, or refund me the full amout that i payed for the game.

Found a workaround. I click the icon on my taskbar which maximizes the window, then I spam click until I see the in-game cursor and if I'm lucky I get to play. The issue still persists though.

I got the game to work by deleting all the shaders in the ns folder by deleting log file and reinstalling it. but it only worked for one day, not the game goes back to black screen evry time i start the game, it freezes the computer and sometime windows even give me a bluescreen and restarts by itself. something is terrible wrong with this game and I want my money back.

Maybe your game options are set to start the game windowed, try this-

windows key + r
type %appdata%
open natural selection 2 folder
delete system_option file

Play game.

It should not be my problem to fix a broken game, If the game dosent work probertly steam should not sell it!!! as simple is that! im not a programmer or an IT geek, Im not interested in wasteing my time on fixing something that should work when i pay for it!

If the game dosent work, and im not the only one haveing the same problems then i want a refund.

maybe i will buy it again when it works, but for now im sorry to say its a broken pice of ♥♥♥♥ and i want my money back.
