Very slow loading time

First time I start the game I need around 3 minutes to get map cached, loaded, connected. After that it loads all other maps and server a lot faster but this is unbearable, sometimes I don't even want to start playing because of massive wait.

Well I allways just start it and do something else while it loads... but it's faster than it used to be. Also, download common mods so your game does not have to download them when you get on a server.

doesur screen go black before the main menu because mine doesn't load the menu andhas a debug error

No. It only goes black if I alt-tab but then I have to kill game. So I don't do it.

well for me Ijust launchnothing happens a window appears shows a debug error. :(

In windows Task manager, set NS2.EXE to run at high priority.

Also, as somoene else stated, downloading mods can take a while.

Generally after a patch, loadtimes are long.

Steam supports moving single games to a different drive.
If you got a SSD, move it there and enjoy the loading times.

Yeah, that's very very annoying. Make me feel like unbearable loading times on PS1... :(

Build 258 reduced load times, but the real key is moving NS2 to either an SSD or a 10,000 RPM drive.
