Red plug of doom and crash

So I was wondering since I crash like once in an hour since 268 I believe.

So how it happens that i get a red plug of doom, and the game freezes and crashes, the red plug phase takes like 1min.

So when the red plug happens if i disconnect from the server it doesn't crash, so I can just rejoin the server.

But it has nothing to do with connection it's just that it happens too often considering how long the games take, I miss alot of important moments.

So I was wondering if theres a fix for this because it's kinda annoying. I do believe it has something to do with ns2+ or certain servers running it. But it just feels odd that when I get the red plug if i disconnect the game wont crash but if i keep waiting it crashes.
