This game is really bad. The game mechanics are terribly implemented and confusing as hell. Also the fast paced action is not that fast, its just a mess of everyone jumping around. Also the community is dead which makes my statement true. Only a few people still play it. Everyone that played the first one agrees that this game has gone downhill.

There's no question the mechanics are more complex than the average shooter and that's partially why it will never have a big community. Mindless shooters have always had bigger communities than thinking games.

This game is great. The community is far from dead. Dev's handed the reins to community dev team, ♥♥♥♥'s happening. If you're just too terrible to understand the game, it's not our problem.

You don't need to learn every gameplay mechanic to pass an opinion on a game.

But you do need to spend more than 2 hours to get a grasp on a complex game.

Well I can say that this game can be very bad if you have bad luck with your commander or toxic players. Though most of the times this game gives a gameplay the likes I haven't seen before in another game.

I've played 49 minutes in-game and I suck, but I can tell a lot of thought was put into the game and I can tell how strategic and how important teamwork is in it. It's definately not a bad game.

It's one thing to say that mechanics are bad but another to actually prove it but also explain in detail, what you think is bad. Unfortunately for you, I doubt you could provide even a shred of information that is inferential because you have not got the experience to say so. This is the reason why game reviewers tend to put more than 2 hours into the game before putting out a critical examination.

What I can deduce from this is that you're too dumb to understand this or you got repeatedly destroyed by more experienced and skillful players and decided to vent your frustration here.

The game is not for everyone, in fact, it's very niche which is why it has a lower playercount than most. Even games like chivalry that have had extensive coverage from popular Youtubers and a good critical reception also lack a highly solid playerbase. NS2 is one of the hardest shooters to come out since Quake 3. People don't like coming to the realisation that they suck which NS2 does beautifully and you're one of these people.

hope they make maps like in ns1. airlock, supermario, or lemmings :D i never really liked the normal ns, im always in combat mode. cos if commander fails, we all fail, i dont like that,.. but yeah its a great game.

2 hours into Natural Selection 2, yet 1,500 hours in Counter Strike Source. That tells me you have no taste.

Putting winky faces in the middle of your reply doesn't make it any more right. Opinion =/= fact. You still can't say this game is bad.

A review by me, based on like the beta of the game till maybe 6 months agoish.

#1 Community. The in game community is pretty good as far as games go and a semi decent judge of game balance, not much trolls,etc.
HOWEVER, the official forums community doesn't know left from right and sucks the marines guns if you know what I mean. If you so much as try to explain anything logical of marine Vs alien balance they throw poop at you like monkeys.

#2 Balance. Its freaking bad, do to the above gun sucking.

- The Marines. Are old school shooter types without anything that made old school shooters interesting or fun. You run around with more or less a gun with sniper accuracy and no recoil, no cone of fire, no anything other then point and hold the mouse down or point and spam the mouse fire button. The only other thing you have to do as a marine combat wise is learn to do basic bunny hopping. No skiing, no strafe jumping, no nothing else old school. You just freaking point and click while pressing the space bar. You could literally play marine as a Iphone/whatever railshooter and you'd have pretty much the same experience combat wise.

- The Aliens. They are treated as the bastard children of this game so bad they even took away the lerks ranged gas and the fades acid rocket from NS1. You need a LOT of skill to do pretty much anything as a alien and you are punished harshly for making even the smallest of mistakes. Think of playing Aliens as playing Dark Souls, unforgiving as heck with the same learning curve.

- Look of the game. I've said it before and I'll say it again, most of the maps are greyish/brownish and the basic Aliens are dark brownish. The first thing you might think of when playing as a Marine is that there is a extra big poop jumping at you and trying to attack you while in a sewer.

- Sound? Doesn't suck? Not sure how this is even rated. lol

- Overall rating? maybe a 2 out of 10. Unless this so called "new Community dev people" drastically and I mean drastically changed the balance and game mechanics don't touch the game with a 10 foot pole.

The only reason this game sucks now is because of all the kiddies and dumbass getting it for real cheap 1-5 dollor range if the devs would stop putting it on sale maybe the part of the community that is the good players would come back but untill the stupid people leave the ones that are good at the game hate it.
