Disclaimer: I do not have any direct connection to the team. This thread was made to gather pieces of information, when SKSE team gives them out for public.

There are horde of SKSE64 threads in this forum. Most of them are filled with speculation. Usually forum regulars have made community threads about anticipated releases. I know that we should have done this thread long ago. It was the hight time to make one now, when SKSE64 has been delayed from estimated time of release.

I actually don't get why Bethesda doesn't do this. Especially with the Special Edition.
It could have all those features right from the start. They know that their games are some of the heaviest modded games. Should be easy as hell for them...
Because they don't care. I'm working in gaming software company too.
Our developers don't give a damn for the public demands, they simply want to finishing their tasks and don't have many bugs...!
The main purpose of the Special Edition was to sell the game to owners of the current generation of consoles - the Xbone and PS4 can't run the original, due to poor and non-existant backwards compatibility, respectively. These players don't really give a crap about mod support, let alone SKSE (in fact they've made up the bulk of Bethesda's sale figures for many years now, despite previously lacking any mod support at all). I'd also wager that most PC users run the game unmodded, muddling through it bugs and all.

Even if Beth had any reason to want to get SKSE's featureset into the game on an "official" basis, it would involve contracts with the team which may not be legally feasible for any of the parties involved. It's a sticky mess of red tape.

Unlike Bethesda who want to finish their tasks and leave as many bugs in as possible.

Maybe it's because it's a bit dodgy using other peoples code in your game.

Just because it's a MOD that's available freely does not allow the game developer to incorporate it into the game.

That would make the lawyers very happy.
Regardless of whether Bethesda should/could use SKSE's code, it's no argument that Bethesda could integrate their own official version (read: make an SKSE knockoff with their own legal code that performs the same functions).
so.. whatever fkn happened to skse anyway ?

was supposed to be a release in mid march, we're closing in on may

It was delayed. The developers were busy, I believe.
Read the link in the OP.

They could've also shipped free cheeseburgers with the game. Obviously there's no reason why they'd want to do either of those things, so what they "could've" done is moot.

Because the game ALREADY has a script engine!!! Seriously, it does! Go check!

Well, other than the positive PR they'd get from giving the modding community a jumpstart on the new game.
But I guess Bethesda doesn't really care about that, so you've got me there.

Relative to the one they got by giving it away for free, I doubt it'd've made much of an impact.
"Oh... buh-hu-hu... where is SKSE64? I can't stop crying!..."

(Good God!)
GamerPoets pointed out that they do not know any more than we do.
