How do I rest to recover my health?

Where and how exactly do I rest to recover my health? I've just started the single player campain.

Go to the camp menu and do "Wait Here" or something along those lines, Or go to a town and do the same thing in the town menu

or just wander around and dont get hurt. You will heal over time.

You get best results if you rest in a city's inn, and your party includes a non-unconscious character with the Wound Treatment skill.

If your main character does not have it, look around taverns for a healer. Ymira and Jeremus start with some Wound Treatment, and it is well worth increasing it as soon as they level.

You can't really play the campaign without a medic, unless you are really experienced and looking for a formidable challenge.

Also - You own character is unique in that he adds a bonus to "party" skills if he has certain amount of them even if that amount is lower than another party member has.

E.g. If Jeremus would have 5 Wound treatment and your character 2, your party would have 5+1.

So, it is basically NOT a (great) waste to have 2 points in some skills which you are planning to relegate to other characters.

It's also worth mentioning that having a party member with First Aid will heal a portion of your loss in any combat, so you have less to heal up.

High surgery and wound treatment on both you and a companion effectively allows you to near instantly recover from a fight in which you took some casulties.

Surgery is just for keeping troops from dying. First aid gives some of the health the player and heroes lost in combat back at the end of the fight. Wound treatment effects how fast the rest of the damage is healed and how fast ko'd troops are ready to fight again.
