How does the new Tech research work?

I have 3 Devs, all saying they are idle because there is no work to do
I have set "Friends List" to be researched
it says 0/3 Developers - awaiting staff, but nothing is happening?
Am i doing something wrong?

Where it shows you 0/3 developers working on the tech, click on the little person icons to assign how many you want to work on it.

I assume you may have resolved this already, but thought it's worth a reply in case anyone has the same issue going forward :)

I did not realize those were clickable buttons at all

i eventually found the auto assign option in the policies and was able to research that way
I never figgured out the direct assignment before, but yea you are right, those little person icons are actually clickable

Useful feedback! I need to do something to make those look more clickable!
