Would there be much harm in starting a new game in the current beta, and changing to the stable release when it arrives?

I know there'd be a few bugs and balancing issues, that type of thing, but is there any major changes going on or is it just polishing it up before release?

Everything is balanced and some things that existed are not there and new things have been added.
