The devs say that this update has a lot of underlying systems and stuff that won't be immediately visible to players, but that future updates will be faster.
Personally I'm going with the same conclusion from a while ago: The devs bit off a bit more than they could chew and are trying to make it work.
That's a bit reassuring, but also sad. There's a lot of potential for this game to be super customizable, but I guess if their a small team it's hard. If I remember correctly the game starts stating some kind of school or institute funded development? I wonder if this was some kind of little project at first.
This is a passion project of a single person, which will, in best case scenario, be abandoned around version 0.30.
It's 0.20 now, so... in about 10 years. 10 years of two meaningful updates per year.
Then he finally abandons this unfinished flustercuck.
