Game works on driver 19.12.1 (and previous versions)
Update to 19.12.2
Game no longer launches
Kinda narrows down the issues given the one and only change to the system is driver version
Some people need to use the newest drivers to play other games that don't work on older drivers for example. Having to install different drivers, going back and forth installing them, to play different games is not a work around most would find acceptable.
I have submitted a report to AMD. I suggest everyone else reading this post and experiencing this issue to do the same. The RX 5700 series have had other issues like this....some download content in Assassins Creed Odyssey doesn't work either for example, exclusive issue to the RX 5700 series. so far not sure if this is just an AMD driver thing or if specific to certain AMD GPUs. seen at least one RX 580 and RX 570 user say they have this crash at startup and even two Nvidia GPU users (1060 I believe) say they have this crash at startup issue
Here a screenshot of my Driver Version: http://prntscr.com/qhr2oz
I thought this was obvious but a genuine fix is making the latest drivers work. right? a "fix" doesn't mean a company would suggest something like this
"hey we fixed this issue.....by telling you to use old driver versions because the new ones are broke and we can't fix the new ones"
lol there is no sense in that! The developers and/or GPU/driver manufacturers need to be held accountable for basic compatibility
you took my post far too personal. quite a defensive response lol! (what else should I expect from the interwebz though right?) I wanted to make a point this isn't a long term fix. you will not have a good time being stuck on old drivers if you play newer games. this is a band-aid to get by in a pinch basically.
BTW 19.12.3 drivers working well ;)
(not for Nioh obviously, but everything else I play, they work well!)
New games added, Halo MCC is huge. So someone who wants to play that and Nioh on the same new driver will be having a bad time right now. This is an example, not some end all blanket statement that fits everyone's needs and uses. If you don't need to be on the new drivers, then by all means, stay on old ones
Also what mess(es) are you talking about? Please provide links to established messes that are still happening? I did think 19.12.1 was poor, I got some crashes on that but by the time I updated to 19.12.3 it seems to be as stable as any previous version that was running everything I had in my game library just fine
"scottjtighe BTW 19.12.3 drivers working well ;)
(not for Nioh obviously, but everything else I play, they work well!)"
So what you are saying is if you wan't to play Nioh don't use 19.12.3! the whole point of the original post, hahahahahahaha!
"BTW" nobody cares how the games you run on your system function, The reason they are here is to get Nioh working on their systems. Its why the post is in the Nioh section, everybody knows its a temp fix just to get Nioh working for now. And nobody came here for Halo or anything else.
As for Issues they have a whole section on it in the release notes under "Known Issues" along with all the games they added support for, And Halo runs on 19.12.1 Dec 2nd driver I play it myself.
