Anno 2070

Anno 2070

Can't validate my copy - VERY unhappy
So this is a game I'd been thinking of buying for a while. I hesitated a little too much last time it was on special and missed out. Now it's back I grabbed the pack and got ready to play...

And got exactly as far as the Product Activation. I have my CD key from Steam, entered it, get 'Error (2000): Connection Failed. Please check your Internet Connection'. Disabled AV, failed again. Confirmed the necessary ports listed on Ubisoft's website were open, failed again. Restarted system, failed again. Tinkered with a variety of settings - fail, fail, fail. Frankly, I'm furious that I've paid for this game and am stuck unable to play it, unable even to launch it. To make things more difficult, there seem to be a multitude of people who have experienced error 2000 in the past, but only within the game itself, not while activating it. I've filed a ticket with Ubisoft's tech support, but it's now outside business hours with no response, and I fully expect that with Christmas imminent I won't hear back until at least the 27th.

So I just thought I'd post this out here as a two-part question/message: a) Does anyone know of a workaround or possible fix for this sort of thing, and b) do NOT support Ubisoft by buying this game. Anything which requires tech support's assistance before you can even launch it, is not worth your cash.

♥♥♥♥, I was about to buy this. Is this for everyone, or..?

No way to know for sure. I doubt it's affecting everyone or these forums would be far more flooded with complaints than they currently are, and I can say from previous experience that the game is pretty damn good when it works. It just isn't for me atm, much to my frustration.

looks like ubi is having server problems. I managed to get mine activated fine, however once the uplay app came up and asked if it could bind anno to my account, then it said that failed because their activation servers were down

I activated my key for the game fine, but then Uplay got in the way and won't let me bind it to my account. Programs reports that it can't get an internet connection. Incredibly dissapointing.

Yep Uplay is down i hope Ubisoft recognise they cause more problems than they solve

The funny part is that Ubisoft does a better job of advertising for pirating games, then most piraters ever would.

I was so hyped to buy this game, until I came to the discussion booth and saw 5 threads like this.

I want to try it though, so maybe I'll confirm their self-fulfilling prophecy and just pirate the game...

I was going to look to trade something for this game..... but looks like I'll explore other avenues.

I'm hoping this is fixed soon. I was able to log on, but now Uplay doesn't seem to recognize my account at all. It's acting as if I'm a new user with no data in Anno 2070. It wanted me to enter in my CD key and when I do it says its already been used.

Ive got this problem also. Not happy.
It would be nice if Steam could put a notification to warn people about the Uplay service state, before they spend money on something that potentially doesnt work at this time.

Count me too - exactly the same problem. Will stop buying ubisoft games - just a crappy publisher.
