Stay Away Until They Remove uPlay
I have been playing this game since it was born! I give credit to Ubisoft to keeping the game true to its roots with VI but implementation of uPlay on top of Steam is a joke.

Not only is this repetitve to Steam it adds a tremendous amount of time and clicks when trying to play your game! But clicking is the part that works for uPlay. They decided to also have uPlay provide cloud synchronization of your games. This is where the problems resides and why I recommend all stay away from this game and any game with uPlay attached! I have had numerous times where once this save game sync occurs it wipes....yes WIPES my save games back to a some date 10 to 30 days ago. So any progress you make in this game, gone.

Oh and by the way, Steam already has a save game sync too! And it works just fine.

Shame on you Ubisoft.

It crashes after update due to some NEWS WIDGET. Why is there a news widget in the first place? Game itself is beatiful, but uCrap ruins everything.

have to agree with OP. uplay works ok, compared to origin for instance, but it is just not needed, and even though you companies want to "catch" users on your own platform, it is just annoying to us, and when it don't even work properly you just ♥♥♥♥ us off. when you can't even compete with steam, why force us onto your crappy platform?

The cloud saves aren't an issue if you turn them off from the UPlay application.

Amills1, you are correct. After poking around the uPlay application I found the checkbox to turn this off an wouldn't you know it, the save games have started working/persisting once again. So if you don't mind only playing this game on one computer you're good. If you want to have this on multiple computers best of luck.

I hope Ubisoft reconsiders the idea of requiring (really cramming) uPlay on future titles. If Microsoft is smart enough to figure out how good Steam is when it comes to online distribution and synchronization then so should Ubisoft. The worse thing that can happen in the gaming community is every game has it own proprietary "cloud" app and network that players have to install to play their games.

Good game, uplay sucks. Steam is all you need, not sure I'll get the next game if you have to go through ucrap....

Would have bought this game on release, but Uplay is a serious deterrent. It is unfortunate that so many good game developers sign up with this publisher. Oh well, the good news is there is no shortage of other good games out there :)

Hello guys I bought this game a while ago along with Settlers 7 and installed them on my Alienware Laptop. This last Xmas I build a new desktop which is more powerful so I thought I should try to play those games on my new system. I installed them from Steam no problem (they are both still installed on my Alienware) but when Uplay loads for the first time after the installation it requests the CD key which I give them, but then it says it is already used and won't let me run either game. I have even talked with their technical support and they are saying that after one use of a CD key it can NEVER be done again. So I am stuck and if I can't get it on my new system I think a general boycott of everything UBISOFT will suffice. Any suggestions?

That's a shame!! I've got a mess of games on two uPlay accounts in case of this goddamned Ubisoft DRM! And I have to think twice which game is on which account and is it steam or not to play it. I totally decline to support financially of DRM developing!!! The real shame is that the DRM is cracked even before release of the game, so the only victims of DRM are fair purchasers of the game! Especially if you remember recent critical bugs in uplay security, which were able to run any app or code using a simple web-page in a browser...

know how you feel man... I have played this series since the first (still have it) but it has not been working with this game since uplay 2.1.2

Not sure where to post this, but here i go - need to get this off my chest.
Been playing this since the beginning (including King's Bounty), and i was amazed how Ubisoft managed to recapture the feelings of Heroes of Might and Magic III and improving it as well, with their Heroes V. Then Heroes VI was on the horizon, and damn i was excited - as if it was Christmas Eve. When the game came out, i played it only a few minutes. First they chose not to include the town screen <-- Holy ****! Why on earh would that not be included!? Then they reduced the resources... i thought it was Heroes of Might and Magic VI, not an rts game (they usually have 1-3 resources of some sort). I was ridiculously annoyed (to say the least) and never wanted to look at this game ever again. Last week i visited a friend of mine who proclaims the game is quite fun (he started out with Heroes V) and was not sure why i was angry towards Ubisoft's lates Heroes game. I put my pride aside and dived into the game for a couple of hours and discovered; Town screen is back again + it was not too bad with the only resource being crystal (besides wood, ore and gold). Last night i got my copy of the game, installed it and was so excited to finally play Heroes VI. First up is the "not included codes" for my DLC (i bought the Gold Edition) and then i had the pleasure of experiencing the black screen and town screen freezings. Am i intitled to go crazy and completely badmouth Ubisoft? I'm trying to behave myself and be understanding, but holy **** i'm angry and very disappointed.......... it hurts the most when you are a very loyal fan and have been one since the very beginning. My apologies for posting this, but i couldn't help myself.
