Click City Hall or any Computer > Nraas > Master Controller > Town > Purge Written Books > Choosing any books that you want delete them.
However Purge Written Book not appear if there no written books data in the town.
Okay, I downloaded and installed the mod, but when I go into Master Controller > Town, there is no option to Purge Written Books. And I have a Sim who's written at least a couple dozen of them!
ETA: Nevermind. Turned out I just needed to also download and install the Master Controller Cheats Module. For anyone else wondering, it's all on this page:
https://www.nraas.net/community/MasterController
I'm suggested you must downloaded Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Traffic, and Traveler to make game runs smoother as well for better future experience.
Yeah I might do that. In the meantime, I have another issue. I purged the town of a particular book, just to test it out. But I should've mentioned that I was wanting to write another book with the exact same name later on. But the game won't let me. It still says I've already written a book with that name and suggests I add a 2 at the end of it.
I thought the point of this was to delete it from the game's memory, yet it's still "in the way", so to speak. Any ideas?
The problem is that the book title is already in the sim's history as having been written. Not sure there is a way to fix that, but the question is up on our site at NRaas and we are waiting to see what our developer says. It may be necessary to just use a slightly different title unless he has further suggestions.
Yeah, I'm waiting for an answer there too. Might be impossible. I just think it's weird that it doesn't actually remove the book from existence completely.
I'm try some experiments, it's possible you can writing books with same name again.
By...
Click on your sim > NRaas > Master Controller > Advanced > Skill Level > Writing > Set to -1 and click accept.
And now do same thing as above mention again with any level you want or start new again.
BUT YOU WILL LOST ALL CHALLENGE OF WRITING SKILL (except Books Read).
It's weird that i also found some random generated written books (created by game own, not me) can have same name each other (resulting have 2 same name written books in town data).
Could you clarify what you mean by this? Do you mean the rewards you get after writing x number books or something?
Also, would this purge ALL the books he's written? Because I'm not wanting to do that...
Including Current Book Completion, Completed Books, Money Earned Writing, Current Weekly Royalities, and etc. all records will become 0 (except Books Read).
You can still keeps currently simoleons, Writer career progress, your written books data from earlier writing even you removing writing skill (by setting writing skill to -1) completely.
"Professional Author" lifetime wish week in royalties amount will becoming 0 as well if doing this (it still finish if you finish this LTW before).
Doing this before will not remove your written books data from your town, so you needed Purge Written Books if you wanna deleted them.
But recommended you must Purge Written Books before you writing and naming that book again. Writing book have already name title with not delete data yet will make game error and not recognize moment (get check by Nraas ErrorTrap, and your sim will automatic get Resetsim command).
Sounds like a huge sacrifice just to get rid of one book :(
I think once I could rename the books but I don't remember how
To remove them from the library and bookstore remove them from the inventory and move the family to a new neighborhood.
Ok, every time I go through Sim>Advanced>Books and choose "Purge Written Books" it gives me a long list of filters (or at least I think that's what it is). When I choose something like "Active Sim", it gives a message saying that ALL of their written books will be purged, and that's not what I'm after either. Although I suppose I could just grin and bear that if I absolutely had to.
I actually hadn't checked to make sure the books were being removed from the library and bookstore. Are you telling me that even if I choose Town>Books>Purge Written Books, it won't even remove them physically from these locations? Because that will be an issue. But if the only way to accomplish that is to move my family out of the neighborhood, I will have to choose instead to never access the library or bookstore again (if and when it becomes too hard to navigate).
All I want is to remove the history of a single written book. I'm still amazed that this seems impossible without sacrificing so much.
Think the author is a sim with the same name as yours. To remove the books physically from the world I suppose you must move the family to a new neighborhood.
There is probably another way by changing the game files themselves but I never explored this option, I broke the game too many times by messing with things I don't fully understand.
Search in the options, you are not forced to purge all the books, I may be wrong but I am almost certain there is an option to select the ones you want, maybe in a different submenu.
Or maybe the process involves several steps using different plugins but is is possible.
The problem is the mod collection is complex and I always struggle to remember how I did something just some days ago, if it is done with retuner, register, story progression etc, and in wich exact order it must be done.
I even wonder if the mod writer himself has discovered all the possibilities of his mods.
That's a good point, given how complex the game files are once one gets into it. But the "mod writer himself" was Twallan and he retired from NRaas and TS3 coming up on seven years ago now. But even Twallan the Great was human and I remember every once in a while someone would point out a feature or another that either he had forgotten about or just assumed no one was using.
The OP here has engaged with our lead developer at what is now NRaas, who has put the issue of the book titles not really disappearing from the target sim's history on his list to explore further. Given that AwesomeMod, a Core Mod with a similar command within it, doesn't produce any different result for the OP, there doesn't seem to be an answer currently. But if anyone can find it, it will be our developer once he has some time to delve further.
