Console cheat to unlock Blood Mage specialization?
Is there a console cheat to unlock Blood Mage specialization for mages? I read on dragonage wiki that the only way in game is to bargain with the desire demon in the Fade when you fight for Connor's soul, and that ONLY a mage Warden can do it, not a companion mage! I have a mage warden but I fought the demon outright and have no save before that I could use, and REALLY don't want to play whole thing again just to unlock it.... Any suggestions? Thanks.

I took a quick look here:
http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Console_(Origins)

I didn't see anything specfic to unlocking specializations. Although there is a script that can unlock achievements which is all the specializations really are.

Alternatvely, all of the specializations can be unlocked by substituting a completed profile.dap. You can then make use of the specialization and revert back to your original. If you want to go that route I made a modification just for you: http://www.filedropper.com/achievementunlockerv100

Yes I saw that cheat on the web page, but didn't know it was same thing, more or less. I didn't want to unlock ALL achievements just like that, wanted to get as many as possible honestly... but I wanted Blood Mage before I finished the game... so I went ahead and did the cheat. Thanks though.

What I was saying was that you could backup your current profile.dap and use mine to make your character a blood mage and the revert the profile.dap back to your original. But I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Only way on first playthrough if you aren't a mage is to buy the class book during awakenings.

1.) Or use any number of modifications to temporarily switch your class.

2.) Or use the method I elucidated above.

3.) There is almost never only one way. . .

Modding is cheating? I think not.

I think they are when they manipulate a game mechanic to get something that is obtainable by a means that the game already offers without modding.

Fair enough.

Well despite how old this is it is a top result when searching for how to unlock specs via console so let me just put in how it is done, look at the list in the page the first response mentioned

He didn't look into it too deeply as the specs are listed under the add talent list, so you don't need to put in any mods aside from the missing erf file to allow the console to show ( which is found ovar here http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/1110/? )

An old thread but whatever - I do have a question about this though so might as well try this thread.

On PS3 I managed to unlock almost all the specialisations reasonably early on, though I did complete the Darkspawn Chronicles and Leilana's Song DLC first. In particular I managed to get the Assassin, Blood Mage and a few others out really early - I've googled it but haven't found out how, so I'm wondering how I may have done that? Love that Assassin Spec in particular and want to get it early.

Talk to Zevran, he teaches it to you, so whenever you get him in your party talk to him in camp until you get the option for him to teach it

Is there a way to do it without talking to him though? In the PS3 versions I played I never once took him into my party, and indeed I believe I'd unlocked it before I'd actually run into him the first time.

I believe there are Tome books you can buy in the Awakening expansion in Amarathine but I'm not sure if it will unlock it permanently for all your play throughs or only your current one so you wouldn't get it until rather late in the game.
