You do not have to use CFF Explorer to set forth the LAA (Large Address Aware), simply install the pre-patched exe in the following guide linked below for max compatibility/stability/performance. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233222451
The Affinity fix to 1 core does fix the issue you mention if working alongside LAA. See, the game was originally designed for older lower count core cpus compared to modern day cpus. So when often times the game is ran on a "modern" pc, there can be a risk of a multitude of various issues in-game. Now if this fix is done without the LAA patch, that is when the game slows down after certain time of gameplay due to there not being enough memory to sustain it. The link to the following guide below will actually give you a method on setting the affinity fix without having to do it over and over again through task manager. Skim the guide to the section named "Frequent Random Crashes" and follow the instructions. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=260437327
Also, another thing to look into is Quinn's Ultimate Fixpack ( https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4689 ), which also plays an essential part in fixing all things Dragon Age: Origins. Read the contents of the webpage to form your own opinion if it is worthy of an install. I will say once you do read it, you'll definitely install it :)
If none of these fixes work for you particular problem, let me know, and we can try a couple other things. I can understand how frustrating it can be for sure to have to deal with all these issues right out of the box. I'll do whatever I can to ensure you get the best stable experience for the game. Another thing to note, you could always try your luck using the Origin version of the game instead of Steam. You can activate the game on Origin using the key for the game. Check the following link out for more details: https://techgage.com/article/migrating_your_ea_games_from_steam_or_retail_to_origin/
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 DAOrigins.exe
What this will do is automatically set the affinity to 1 everytime you use this specific shortcut. You don't have to worry about the fact your game is on the external drive. This fix uses the OS Drive or C: Drive system files to do the affinity fix towards DAOrigins.exe file. Hence the target line code, this tells Windows where to send the affinity command to, which will be the DAOrigins.exe where ever the game is installed at.
Now with the matter of the game still crashing during the Inventory UI. Please do the LAA pre-patched exe method in the LAA Patch guide I linked you to. The game will be able to use more RAM than it can by default. By doing so, the game is ensured better stability, along with the Affinity fix. Both must be utilized in order to deliever max stability for the game. They both equally play a part of allowing the best stability possible on modern day computers. Especially those running Windows 10, modern graphics cards, modern multi-core cpus, and ddr3-4 memory.
Thank you very much for saying so Edward_Jam. I appreciate the compliment, same goes for you too bud. I have seen you in a couple posts on the discussion page helping out. I appreciate all your efforts in helping those on the discussion page, keep up the good work! Let me know if there is any help I could provide for you, assistance in helping another, questions about the game, or just simply chat. I will respond as soon as I am able. :)
I am glad everything is in order, and that I was of assistance to you. Enjoy playing the game with better stability! If any more issues are to arise, questions about the game, or just want to chat, let me know and I will respond as soon as I am able. :)
