[Ragnarök] more bugs and criticism
First I thought people where over-reacting about the negative sides of the new DLC but: Why on earth are so many things done very poorly in Ragnarök???

At least several item skills are bugged (Einherjar's Fate anyone).

Some quests, done in an unintended order, can break. Several quest related monsters can spawn out of reach for players without running any mods.

Giving many enemies reflect is anything but good design, even worse when they are also dealing high damage on their own. A reflect enemy every now and then ok but the later DLC parts are no fun for any directly hitting build.

Many loottables in Ragnarök are set wrong, creating items with wrong affixes or make it impossible to even receive the items at all.

Arm monster skin equipment (regular and Monster-Infrequent) loot:
all arm pieces get torso affixes instead of arm affixes

Head monster skin equipment (regular and Monster-Infrequent) loot:
all but the regular greek bandit head pieces get torso affixes instead of head affixes

Leg monster skin equipment (regular and Monster-Infrequent) loot:
all leg pieces get torso affixes instead of leg affixes

Bouncing loot for which you have to wait several minutes to be able to pick it up sometimes.

The upgrader for epic and legendary equipment is still a test version using wrong affixes for most equipment. For jewelry he randomly takes out of tables for melee and mage chest armors. Martial weapons get sword prefixes and club suffixes. All armor parts receive torso affixes.

No proof-reading at all in the database before publishing this DLC as most of that stuff would be found after 1 day of working with the database. Very sad that they rely on modders to fix their bad and rushed work...

Maybe they intended to take those shortcuts to save time. But yes, I don't think I like it either.
Kejima Aug 29, 2018 @ 5:10am
The difference in time is only a few minutes when setting this up - by creating templates for each different type and difficulty.

And even worse: some items get mage affixes in 1 difficulty and melee affixes in another difficulty...

The most frustrating part is that these things are such easy fixes, and yet after 2 years none of them have been fixed.

Other things include stupidly broken items like giant's tooth and freya's set. And other just wierdly designed items that don't make sense. Like -entrapment duration on almost all dex gear (nice for hunter Kappa). I think one of the smaller patches did fix the stupid amount of blue/legendary throwing weapons that were dropping, although that may just be my rng, I used to find 2-3 hoi poloi's every run in A1 but I haven't found one since the last patch.

Me too I thought Einherjar's Fate's Reckless Offense was bugged, but actualy it's not; first it has a very low proc chance (4%) and secondly it requires a weapon in each hand to have a chance to proc. But if you do so and try against a dummy in Spartan Camp for example, you'll proc it; it shows as a white flash when it procs. But otherwhise I fully agree that there is way too much bugs remaining in this version.

I don't even have to give a flying :poop: how badly they made the DLC, what grinds my gear is that about half of the blue and purple items that drop are unpickable unless I purchase the expansion. No matter from what angle I look at it, the game is OBJECTIVELY worse now: the loot table horrible when compared to pre-:poop:-DLC, and for example now there's a black square in Delphi.

Nicely done, devs, I came back after a few years hiatus and the game is even worse now! I rate this :gtfo: / 10

It is bugged. As Reckless Offense is supposed to grant you the ability to dual wield in addition to the chance to trigger while dual wielding. But the actual code that unlocks dual wielding must be hidden in the .exe or a .dll and not in the database (where skills, item values etc. are stored) as I found no clues within the database about the unlocking itself.

Are there any fan patches that fix all these problems, especially the MI's not dropping (legendary icescale gear doesn;t drop for example), and applying the rgiht armour to the right slot?

That is true, they chose a really bad way of implementing those features into the AE version so DLC users can play with other users.
A better solution would've been to keep the AE loot tables in use for people without the DLC (AE users) and just add all DLC equipment and DLC loot tables to the database. So if a DLC user joins an AE user his gear can be properly loaded.
And the host game could switch to use DLC loot tables while atleast one DLC user is connected - realising that should not be too hard if everything is set up properly. Even granting the host the option of deactivating Ragnarök loottables or not could be implemented quite easily.

I released a bounce mod that fixes some bugs:
- 'Isenhelm ~ Einherjar Hero' now drops loot once you killed him
- Fjord Ichtians now drop their Monster-Infrequent armor sets ('Icescale' set and 'of the Deep' set) in legendary difficulty
- Troll loottables fixed, a lot of inconsistency removed, minor optimization
- Monster-Infrequent Troll staff now drops (was dropping in no difficulty)
- The 4 Ragnarök Monster-Infrequent shields now spawn with shield affixes instead of axe affixes
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1494041993

But as I posted on that mod discussion I will not release any further bug fixes besides those as I am no employee of THQ nordic hence not getting paid to fix things that could've easily been working correctly since release of it.

Kudos. I've been a modder (not for Titan Quest tho), and I had the same mindset; it's not the modder's responsibility to fix the game.

The "developers" had enough time to fix these intern-level bugs, so the only thing left is to decide whether it's because of incompetence or malice.

The funny thing is that this is basically tradition. I fixed loads of similar things in my Patchfix for the original TQ+IT and the original Fanpatch team before me even earlier.

I can understand that you don't want to fix them yourself, but it would still be cool if you posted what you find. If not the devs then maybe I'll get around to it.
Billy Pilgrim Aug 30, 2018 @ 11:45am
Ofcourse its not your responsibility to update this game, its pretty sad that the devs bought this IP and treat it the way they do. Just a quick port and money grab. $$$$ and peace-out. With the horrid port to switch and ps4, there is probably no time to bug fix the pc version which I would say is at a stable beta build level.
Malgardian Aug 30, 2018 @ 3:27pm
Money grab is a disingenious way to put it too, however. There have been regular patches since the AE came out. In comparison to other devs in the ARPG genre that's pretty remarkable (looking at the grave of Runic Games...).

The ports might be done by different companies, no idea. I can only speak for the PC version.

And making disparaging remarks about another studio that was shut down by it's publisher/business partner, without knowing or having proof of why the studio was shut down... pretty duplicitous there, dear Mod.

And TL 3, or TL:Frontiers is being developed right now, by M. Schaefer and some other "previously Torchlight" and "previously Diablo" devs. So, Runic isn't completely buried, they reanimated under a new name. Echtra Games. Which odl;y enough, is owned by Perfect World, the company that ownd and killed Runic.

Strange times. Let's not make them stranger with allegations of wrongdoing or being "bad devs",without proof, eh?

And lets not stick the shovels in the cemetary dirt just yet... TL:F looks like it might be a fun MMO to go back to online browser based playing, and getting away from Steam and the toxic Haz-Mat situation steeping on this platform.
Britannicus Aug 30, 2018 @ 5:00pm
ARC is an abysmal platform, though. Steam is objectively superior as a platform to manage and play your games, even if the Store and Community aspects have glaring problems.
