Quantum Break

Quantum Break

Hey Remedy, is this version optimized?
Or, is it going to run like absolute crap like the Windows store version? I feel cheated having bought the game off the Windows store with no refund ability. The game is SOOOOO poorly optimized... I refuse to even play it, it is that bad... I have an i7 5930K and 1080, the game runs like garbage.

Do you think they are going to say "No it's not optimized'?
Do you?

THQ Nordic (previously Nordic Games) is our retail partner for the physical PC edition, all development happens over at Remedy. But trust me, it's gunna be gud :)

Are you a devloper at Remedy? You are giving smiling faces saying the Steam version is going to be "gud" yet you are ignoring the OP's complaints about the Windows Store Version? I too have 2 1080s and an i7 5820k yet the Windows Store version is absolutely broken. It barely cracks 30fps maxed out and crashes non stop. Congrats that you will make a "gud" version but what about finally responding as to what your plan is for the Windows Version.

I'm sorry that you feel we're ignoring feedback. I believe that the learnings from the earlier PC release of Quantum Break have helped with bringing Quantum Break to Steam, and I hope we can provide a better launch this time.

There have been several patches for the Windows Store version and what I gather from the discussions here and on Remedy Community Forums, people who have adjusted the settings to match their hardware are saying it plays fine.

Like mentioned on other topics, the game doesn't support SLI. But even with one GTX 1080 and the right settings, you should be able to get an enjoyable experience out of the game. I recommend comparing visual differences between 'high' and 'ultra' options in different areas of the display settings page.

The Win 10 version isn't that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anymore.

I was able to play it at 60FPS by turning everything on Ultra, except global illumination and shadows which I put on High. These are the two extremely demanding settings. Going from Ultra to High gave me a performance boost of around 30-40FPS

Let's hope.

I have a GTX 1080 - Windows store version still crashes the Nvidia driver. Has since day one when I played with a 980Ti, and this is after a reformat of Windows 10. It doesn't play fine. On Nvidia, it's completely broken.

The "right settings" shouldn't even come into play with a GTX 1080. The game doesn't look NEAR good enough to justify a GTX 1080 not being able to max it out completely at at least 1080p.

That last statement of yours gives me no hope, and makes me glad for steam refunds - and this will be a refund magnet I bet. Predicting it now - mostly negative. You heard it here first.

SO this is the same version as Windows Store?

Just turn down global illumination from Ultra to High, there's barely a difference but the performance boost you get is extremely high.

Fortunately you don't have to trust Remedy, the port is being done by Nordic Games. Let's hope that Nordic can spin straw into gold.

Well, I paid top dollar for day one at the Windows store, and I was kind of hoping that that version was going to be good.

Optimized - the most misused and overused word by PC gamers.
http://www.pcgamer.com/what-optimization-really-means-in-games/
Except for the fact that Quantum Break looks almost 100% the same as the XBOne version.

Matching the visuals to the XBO verison, one would expect this game to run WAY better on a wide range of hardware considering the low powered crap inside that thing.

You get what, slightly better shadows and light shafts? And that's about it.

They couldn't even get the super low LOD distances improved over the console version or improve the quality of the AA to justify the asinine level of performance required here. (The AA and resolution reconstruction have tons of ugly artifacts)

Hi, easy question:

What are the right settings to achieve vsync locked 60 fps without drops at 1080p without scaling in one GTX1080 with a fast intel i7 cpu?

I really hope you have an answer because I hope that with "enjoyable experience" you do not mean close to 30 fps experience. We are no longer talking about consoles or uwpland here.

Thank you.

Epic argument there fam, go ahead and ignore what I wrote. Keep crying and just don't buy it if putting one setting on High instead of Ultra triggers your autism so much.

Thank you.

Everything on Ultra except Global Illumination.

Worked with a 1070
Worst case scenario: It's as bad as the latest patched Windows Store version. It would still be a good thing, because at least it's on Steam where we can refund it if it runs too poorly. There's also a bigger chance of discounts on Steam.

Best case scenario: It's better and runs how we would expect it to run.

I'm happy either way. I haven't played a bad Remedy game yet so I'm excited to finally get my hands on this relatively soon.

Oh wow. Thank you! Thank you so much! Even with a piece of crap GTX1080 and the "right" settings, people "should" be able to get an enjoyable experience?? That's awesome! Thank you for supporting ancient crappy hardware like the GTX1080. It's amazing to know you're really trying to make sure the game runs across a wide gamut of hardware!

>_>

And people wonder why developers don't participate in forum discussions more.

With such lovely sarcasm, cynism and passive agressive hate... why wouldn't they want to take part in the day to day conversations?
