But then, it sounds like you actually want Remedy to hear you, and they will be able to compare them. Well, you could always go into detail why you disliked the parts of the game. That the shooter parts were boring is true for you, but can you say why? Like, "it was boring because the AI was too dumb, never forcing me to be careful" or similar. Maybe then they can change something about it.
I don't think I'll write a review on it, but my experience was quite different - the story really drew me in and the fact that we got lots of puzzle parts that began to slowly form a picture kept me wondering. "So the time machine was first turned on at 7 AM, before they even arrived? Well, that hasn't been explained yet. I'm sure they'll get back to it. Maybe, it was ...". It was quite satisfying to keep the open threads in mind and then find them connect little by little until you had the full picture. Not even half of my gameplay time was shooter action, but I don't mind because i came to really like Jack, Beth, Liam etc. and could get behind the motives of Paul. And the more of the narrative unrolled, the more I could feel the leaden weight of a potentially unchanging future that Jack might be fighting against in vain. Quite captivating, at least for me.
Thanks for commenting such an honest and open mind comment. It really sounds you liked the game for the strory, what i can understand. They really tried with a couple of known actors and storytelling. I understand that the story "carried" you through the game, but even that was not good enough for me. The problem for me was that there was no element in the game that actually made me think "I have never seen such a thing before". I can never play this game longer than 3 hours without getting bored. Here's why:
- The main reason for this is the gameplay, which is way below the standards of Remedy. The reason for this is the way the enemies are bullets sponges. Because it is a little way back i played this i can't say precisely but it feels like they did this to balance the game in the favor of the enemies. The problem with this is that it really pulls me out of the realism the guns have in the game. Ok it's a sci-fi game, but guns are guns. That's why i compare it to Max payne 3, were headshots (on enemies without helmets) are an instakill even on higher difficulties. Now i understand MP3 is made by Rockstar, but even then they made this way better in MP1 and 2.
- Other reason is that the story never really takes off real fast so you want to know what happens next. Ye ok, there is a time travel element and after that sh*t hits the fan. But even after this event i wasn't interested in this world like i was in the beginning of a game like The last of us.
I don't know why but i just think this game lacks soul. Even with the great story and actors their used for this adventure. Maybe it's a personal thing, maybe it's lack of quality.
Either way, i doubt i'm ever going to finish this game.
