I googled a little, and this is what I got.

Hi,
I had the same problem.
I think this will help you.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefly Studios\Stronghold 3\resources\dotNetFx40 and try to install dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe manually. This solved the problem with me.

Goodluck

4. device manager
5. display adapter
6. disable the one u don't want to use.
7. play
re enable when Ur done.

The first one seems to me like a better solution - I hope that will work for you!

@ EaglePrince, i didnt found a file like that
EaglePrince Dec 27, 2014 @ 10:03am
Too bad... Also, I believe that to you it is not:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefly Studios\Stronghold 3
but:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold3
and that you did assume that. On my PC the exact location of the file is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold3\resources\dotNetFx40
and the file is called dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe.

Did you make it to find it now?

Also, you do not have two graphic cards? If you do, you may try what LumberCO described - just to see if you are able to play the game that way. Still, even if it does work for you, I believe that it would be better to fix it the way JorrinBruil suggested.

Aside from verifying your game cache and checking your connection with Steam, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Stronghold 3 installation folder (Usually C:\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\stronghold3\)

Run the following installers:

...\Steamapps\common\stronghold3\resources\directx \DXSETUP.exe
...\Steamapps\common\stronghold3\resources\dotNetF x40\dotNetFx_Full_x86_x64.exe
...\Steamapps\common\stronghold3\resources\redist\ vcredist_x86.exe
...\Steamapps\common\stronghold3\resources\redist\ vcredist_2008_x86.exe

Reboot your computer and test any issues again.

Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

The \Steamapps\ folder and Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the black and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer.

Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.

Well, I believe that the the chances for it to work on PC are 99%. :) I wish you luck. :)

yeah, it works, but its my pc and im her boy friend lol, i only like Battles Pirates at Facebook or Kixeye lol
EaglePrince Dec 27, 2014 @ 12:33pm
Hahaha! :D
Well, Stronghold is a good game, you might get to like it :) , or at least, get to used to it. :D Also, if this is her first Stronghold game - any other Stronghold game is even better than Stronghold 3. :)

If you decide to try some more stuff to make it work on the laptop, try some of those stuff from above. One is sure - you're not the only one who faced this problem, and I believe that it is solvable.
