cant change game resolution

Im using a 1680x1050 monitor and would like to change the reolution settings, ive serached the forum and google as well as changing 'game launch settings' but still have an almost unplayable resolution...any help is appreciated

You can, you just have to know how.

Create a player.ini file in your Syberia folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Syberia) and paste "800 600 16 0 BaseCMO.cmo" into the file, without the quotes, and save it. The 4th number is what you can change, 0 = windowed mode and 1 = full screen.

It might be possible to change the res through file manipulation or thrid party software - I don't know, but bare in mind that this game was made in pre high-definition times.

I played in fullscreen, and it honestly wasn't that bad (my native is 1920x1080). In windowed mode, my normal cursor remained on top of the game's cursor, which made it hard to see when the game cursor changed.

i played Syberia 1 in windowed mode, then just stayed with fullscreen for #2. in the end, I think fullscreen is the way to go, even if the resolution doesn't look so great... like Vaskania said, the mouse cursor always stayed on top which can be a pain.

I used to run Syberia on better than 800X600 on XP old screen, and there was a resolution option in the in-game menus.

Now it only runs 800X600 on my win 8 wide screen. I can resize and make it fit in physical size (stretch 800X600 to my liking...), but the game maker's larger resolution remains hidden. I used reg edit, and catalyst an what not, but maybe there's some in-game lock that can be opened.

I had this problem too with the mouse cursor always visible, but I came across a tiny program called NoMousy which allowed me to hide the windows cursor.

The game can't have a higher resolution. It uses prerendered art designed at 800x600. And, assuming your monitor upscales properly, it looks pretty good full screen. The only real problem is Kate herself, who is actually rendered. But turning on Antialiasing helps with that.

Be sure your monitor is not set to change 4:3 to 16:9, or everything will look squished.

are you freaking joking ? "pre high-definition times" ? whats this mean ?, sounds silly to me since i've been playing LOTS of games 1900/1600 WAY back in my crt days.
there's NO SUCH thing as "pre high-definition times" unless we're talking pre 2000 like 95.
HD is a gimmick phrase these days.

It is a shame that the resolution cannot be changed, but the game was highly enjoyable regardless of the graphics (IMO)

Do not know if this helps, but my 50" samsung I play on has a setting that says Just Scan. When I use that the whole screen came into view.

I think thats what my sammy plasma said, on lcd/led it's screen fit when using game mode & 16/9 when in pc mode.

It looks good on a 1080 monitor. The only quip being the characters look really blocky. Backgrounds look fine however.
