Grotesque Tactics - Hard mode help
Have ANY tried completing the game on Hard? It seems very bad balanced.. I've just come to Riverwind, and no matter what i do, i'll lose after 1 or 2 kills..
- U cant lvl up before going there..
- Im lvl 3 and they are lvl 3-4..
- U dont get enough money to actually buy something good, i have 85 gold..
- And whats up with the sick number of enemys? They are like 7 against 3, and they kill my maiden after 1 turn, and my other 2 guys have under half HP
- Sometimes my "helpers" are so far back that it takes a turn before they can hit anything..

Is there something im missing here? Any advice?

And btw, any know the locations of the "hidden" mushrooms?

I'm actually right now playing on hard and just came to westwind or something.
Not sure what place you actually mean, but i think its the one where you start on the map and you are surrounden by approximately 5 mosquitos and 1-2 mushrooms.
That was exactly the same place i had a problem with, because you are thrown on the map and most of the enemies can reach you on their first turn.

I had to reload a few times there, but the tactic that worked was to put all my guys to the bottom of the map, so only 3-4 mosquitos can reach me. I tried to put the melees in front so they get hit, but my maiden still got some bruises off. If you survive the first round it should be doable, with help of potions etc.

I just finished it on hard, and started with the challenge mode (meaning only a wooden sword for Drake). And the start was extremely difficult, but the more people you get the easier the game will become, except for certain points in the game and the end (well until they have no mana).

You should resell your potions when you are done with them, and try to buy drake a decent sword, or buy health potions before you proceed to the mosquito area. And yes the game will throw multiple number of enemies at you, but you will like it when you have reached the end, because then you will only fight a few, with very high HP (boring fights).

Try to put you’re ranged units behind Drake and Holy, and target the lesser units first and then go up to the toxic and then the large once. Also try not to pull all of them at once, pull back a bit, to a choke point.

And I agree that the helpers are sometimes too far away, try to walk and stop multiple times, instead of walking to your next target in one go. And save often!

I hope this will help you, it’s a great game but has some flaws.

Yeah, it's a lot of chugging potions. Bottom corner is a good spot. Make sure no one goes down.

After that, well go up to the healing point. There's mobs beyond a ridge you can aggro and trap such that they can't get to you, but will be healed by the healing shrine.

You then use your archer to shoot them (give them time to heal) and you can grind her level up really high...

Oh right, one thing. After the cutscene, you'll see that Mandy has her turn after some mosquitos, which is a bit odd. Save and load, and all three of your heros will be at the top of the move list as they should be.
