Comparison between Ryu to E.Ryu
Well its pretty much on the title as a question,im not comparing im trying to understand after looking up a few Tier lists why is E.Ryu so much lower than Ryu,aside from having a bit less health wich i would imagine its not a huuuuge disadvantage,he seems to have a few more tools in fact, unless his lower circle forward kick wich is differente makes this big a difference or E.Ryu's recoveries are actually a lot slower and i did not notice it

Ryu will have higher tournament placing frequency than E. Ryu simply because E Ryu is criminally under represented. I'm not sure what tier list you were looking at, but the consensus is that AE 2012 is more about match-up knowledge/counter picking and less about tiers (which is a good thing), so the tier lists that are floating around I feel are generally outdated.

Also don't discount the life difference (also stun bar) as insignificant, this game has evolved to revolve around vortex/hard-to-blockables after scoring a hard knockdown, guessing incorrectly can lead to stun and K.O. very quickly. So the tiny life and stun reduction ends up being the difference between getting two guesses instead of just one against someone like cammy, ibuki, akuma etc etc.

Evil ryu hits more and has less health. Ryu has average health and is the most balanced character. Evil ryu also takes a little more to learn as his combos are a little harder and his best combo cannot be hit confirmed.

Learn a strong ground game, don't be doing a lot of dive kicks. He shares tatsu combos with akuma, but the best combo he can do is Cr heavy punch, med stomp, cr med punch, light tatsu , any dp. That combo hits a lot but its hard to confirm.

ERyu Normals are harder to understand. Also his confirms are a little bit harder since his cMK is slow. ERyu heavily relies on big combos that are hard to do. Btw in the good hands, he's a lethal weapon : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNAXgmyR4mU

Ryu also has a much better ground game since his normals are better for poking.

The problem of a tier list is, they are very subjective and considering the fact that this game has 39 characters, i doubt that maining one character will lead to great success(it can, but having a second main isn´t bad).
Evil Ryu appears lower on the list than Ryu, but i wouldn´t trust tier lists, of course certain characters are very strong, still they are all beatable, i would prefer to create your own list. For example i main Dictator and Hakan and if i see some matchup numbers of the tier list i posted, i get the feeling there is too much wrong stuff there and some people wanted extra matchup points there.(Sakura vs Hakan is never 7-3 in Sakuras favour, Hakan has a good chance of vortexing her to death, she can deal good damage, but she can do it to everyone, so that is not a big deal in my opinion).
You have yourself to find out, if Ryu or E.Ryu is the choice for you, they both pros and cons, some might be more important for you, so play the character you like and you feel comfortable with, not those one, who are high on a tier list. I honestly believe that Hakan is secret top tier or atleast a very good character, i mean oiled up, you can easily maul everyone, but unoiled it becomes hard, yes.

Btw it is possible that top tier characters might have a higher chance of winning a tournament, but keep in mind, they are usually mained by the best players out there and they appear frequently more than "lower tier" characters, who are mained mostly by more unknown and inexperienced players. Evil Ryu doesn´t appear that often like Ryu(especially in the USA), so he has harder time to show, how good he can be.
And because of that, low tier characters have lesser chances to show, how good they can be, this of course affects a tier list, sadly.
Another problem is, players are keen to give a high matchup number against lower tier characters, as a Hakan player this happens quite a lot(Chun-Li or Gen vs Hakan is 7-3 for the chinese faction, i say they are very even), also keep in mind, those matchup numbers are based upon equal skill and matchup knowledge, so in generally the better players win a match, even if the matchup isn´t in their favor.
Sry for my bad english, i had to write very fast. Did i forgot something else?

I believe everyone with good okizeme can pull off insane things in this game, so this is why i believe Hakan is really good in this game, even if most people say, he is garbage.

please... for the love of anything u hold dear... if you have to main 1 of those 2, use an evil ryu, you will do the universe and yourself a favor by not being the 50 billionth ryu player

yeah im trying to learn evil ryu but i honestly suck at the game thou im really trying to learn how to play better overall, but yeah i was playing akuma before but there's so many apparently that i decided to try evil ryu instead, but yeah i found a bit of a detailed post in a forums about frame advantage and such comparison between the 2 its weird i still dont get how such little differences can make him so much worse than regular ryu(at least in the eyes of some) but then again im no pro in this game

Evil Ryu is seen as worse than Ryu, but this is a very subjective point of view. They try to explain it with things like that Ryus CR.MK is better or whatever.
Evil Ryu is something new, he shouldn´t be compared to Akuma or Ryu, only to find out, how much weaker he is than those 2.
