PSA: Name Change from SSF4AE to Ultra SFIV in your Game Library

Hi all,

Most if not all of you should have noted the name in your Steam Library list has changed to Ultra Street Fighter IV since the game has now officially launched. Steam Store page has also been refreshed to Ultra.

Now, it may be confusing for owners who haven't upgraded to Ultra since the Library List will now show "Ultra Street Fighter IV" even if you haven't upgraded from SSF4AE.

This is an unfortunate side effect and there's not much that can be done since both Ultra SFIV and SSF4AE share the same AppID in order to enable network compatibility between upgrade users (those who upgraded from SSF4AE) and full-on USF4 owners (customers new to the series on PC).

TL;DR version...if you didn't buy Ultra, you still only have access to SSF4AE.

Thanks for the info then. Got to admit, even if I don't have Ultra for real, its nice to have the card drops towards building my Steam wallet.

What would I get out of my $15 for the upgrade, anyway? I've seen conflicting information around the internet.

That'll certainly help accumulate funds toward the eventual Ultra upgrade! :p

So, from what I can see mentioned there

- Gameplay tweaks
- 5 new characters
- Extra stages
- Edition Select (I imagine this works like the game option in Hyper Street Fighter II?)
- Plus a move from GfWL to Steam online gameplay, which I already knew of

While better than what I had heard from one person (that this was nothing more than a collection of DLCs from the previous version and Steam online), I admit its still not quite tempting enough to get me to part with $15, but maybe during a sale...

I've bought the upgrade and it says ultra street fighter in the description but when i open it it is still super. If i look at the game properties under game DLC ultra digital upgrade is ticked but not installed. How do I install it? I'm in Australia.

Restart Steam to trigger game update, or just waste time until Steam notices.

As of now it only works offline. In PvP and training mode you can select your character edition under the win quote number.

Ok that clears out some of the confusion for me.. BUT..

A new USF4 Buyer actually gets all of the SF4AE DLCs with their 30$ Purchase. But me, who already own SF4AE, If I buy the Ultra Upgrade for 15$ will only get the new Characters and Stages of the Ultra Iteration of the game. If I want the SF4AE DLCs that these new buyers get as part of their deal I'd need to get them seperatly for another 15$.

Basically I would need to pay the same 30$ as new buyers to get the same thing they're getting ?? This is just f***ed up. If New Buyers get all the old DLCs then they should be part of the actual Ultra Upgrade.

i see that the name was changed , but in my library is still showing the ae cover , will the game cover from the library be updated as well??

A friend of mine got the SSF4AE retail and his key still don't works, what can he do at this point?

A friend of mine who doesn't want to get the ULTRA dlc but I did, can I still play with him? Since right now it will just denie to play against eachother because missing dlc. Shouldn't it be easy to play against super owners but just disable them using any of the Ultra Content?

What, either your key was a dupe or you already own Ultra. :)

No. I've heard of something like this before with another game, where a beta copy in your library could prevent you from activating a game key. As far as Steam knows, you do own that game. Because all copies of Super Arcade are now reported as Ultra, he can't activate a key for Ultra.

Once you install Ultra you can temporarily disable it by Rick clicking it in your library, clicking DLC, and unticking the Ultra box.
