Feels way TOO much like the original
Anyone else get this feeling? The overworld changes are nice, but otherwise it's just like a Xeno1 story expansion. I was hoping for real changes, and improvements. Graphics are much nicer... but combat is the same, mission navigation is the same, characters are the same, online is the same.

Should this have just been DLC? I'm not seeing why this warranted a new release.

Have you played it at all? The list of sheer updates, mechanic tweakes and alterations, graphical improvements and overall size of the game is way too massive for it to be a DLC. Unless you have played the beta personally, you claim is invalid.

I know what the updates are.

So yes, my claims are valid. Go away unless you have something to offer.

You did not answer my question, Have you played it yet? That's like saying every single Grand Theft Auto game after III should have been DLC, That every Soul Calibur game should have been DLC. Because everything in each of those games is the same as the last. The Sheer size of the game itself is far too great for it to be a DLC and you would still be paying 50 bucks for it. I doubt the development company would spend a year on a game just for it to be brushed off as DLC. So unless you have read all of the posts that ask the same retarded question you're asking You should be the one to stfu unless YOU have something to offer other than your pissy little attitude.

I could swear I saw this exact same topic just the other day.

Anyway, the gameplay has been significantly improved, as has the functionality of skills as well as transformations. Of course the game is going to feel similar to the original, since it's using the same format and framework. This has always been the case with DBZ games; it's nothing new.

Each successive game builds upon the previous one, adding improvements, additional content, revamps and system changes where necessary, etc...

Xenoverse 2 would not have worked as DLC for the original game. It simply wouldn't be compatible with how Xenoverse 1 was built and functioned compared to the design alterations in Xenoverse 2. There are fundamental game changes among the new content, as well as being--like Xenokal mentioned--much too large to simply be a DLC add-on.

Also, not to be controversial, but one's claims can really only be valid when one has experienced something firsthand. If you haven't yet actually played the game, I would recommend reserving judgment for until after you've given it a try and tested it for yourself.

Additionally, if I may say--

A volatile attitude toward people responding to your question isn't necessary. Nor is reciprocating that negativity for everyone responding. You'll all only succeed in garnering more and more negativity, rather than receive actual replies to the topic we wish to discuss.

Let's all try to be civil and avoid turning this into another troll/insult war, shall we?

I was hoping for major gameplay improvements, but it seems everyone only cares about (mostly devs) graphics. Gameplay is what makes a game unique.

Improved hit detection.
More reliable hit boxes.
Improved combo connectivity to reliably chain your attacks into your Supers and Ultimates.
Tracking added to ki blasts and other multi-fire blast attacks.
Removal of super armor that the AI constantly abused in Xenoverse 1.
Removal of infinite ki from Super Saiyan transformations.
The QQ Bangs that allow you to customize your costume's stats.
Using the previously vacant Ultimate slot for transformations, freeing up a spot for another skill.
In a Saiyan's case, the SSJ transformations are sequential; they all only take up one slot.
New burst rush to chase down fleeing enemies/PvP runners.
Better and smoother framerates.

Do you not consider these to be substantial improvements over the original?

It may feel too much like the original because DBXV1, in theory, was the ideal Dragon Ball experience. It just had major balancing issues and coding problems that brought the experience down. DBXV2 is a more refined and polished machine that is also expanding upon that foundational experience in various ways. If DBXV2 isn't a large enough leap for you to invest money in, simply skip it and wait until DBXV3 is released.

I don't get what some people always expect from a sequel to a game-series. As if Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi in the past always were completely different games with each sequel.

Of course a sequel will tweak all mechanics, polishes the graphics engine and adds more content (in this case: New story, a new transformation-system, more characters, moves, costumes).

Speaking of combos... is it over complicated or mashing x again?

On the XBox-Controller, normal combos are done with the X and Y buttons, but there are also new features that add to the combat-system, such as a specific stamina-break punch that you can do by pressing one of two possible button combinations (haven't played it myself, so I don't know the specific buttons yet). The stamina-break feature stuns your opponent and takes away his/her stamina, making the character very vulnerable to your attacks for a certain amount of time. Also, there is a new feature called "Reserve Dash", which lets you stop people from flying away all the time. When you use this dash, your character automatically catches up to the opponent and then you can attack them again.

Hate to be that guy (I really do) but Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi were completely different one being a side scrolling fighter and the other being a 3D Fighter. Heck they weren't even made by the same company. I get what you are saying tho. Budokai 1-2 -3 were pretty much the same as were Budokai Tenkaichi 1-2 and 3 there were not much differences other then tweaks to the combat system, larger roster, and new game modes. I don't understand why people are so up in arms about it. The core of the argument I think stems from people not wanting to start over again. That's the only reason why I think people want it as DLC lol.
