First, let me denounce some other negative reviews as they are merely stupid butthurts. At the same time a number of positive reviewers have very short playtime as well. The game starts off as a decent casual puzzler. But fairly quickly turns mostly into action of sorts. Dodging, timing your actions, precision movement - these are the things you'll be doing for the most part if you are to endure this game.

Movement is grid based, which should be very precise, but there are bits with kinda off-grid movement, so you loose that precision in some moments. Thanks to that and because of slight bugginess, you might get stuck in a place or two, but this is a minor issue compared to controls. They are awfully slow. It feels like you have a delay of 1 second between button press and corresponding action. Very annoying unresponsiveness, especially when you have to dodge.

And you have those elements of casual co-op action, for example when deadly things randomly fall around the map, which is fun in theory when you run around with a friend. But you're not really running here, and you can't jump aside in the last moment. In gameplay, in level design the game is stuffed with elements that it doesn't really need. Lots of filler just to waste your time, plenty of cheap deaths to do the same.

I haven't tried co-op, but it seems that the game has poor setup for cooperation. Playing single you can and often should switch between two characters, but it's usually due to limited movement. In main levels you have some objectives and then a finishing one - "reunite" - both characters need to get to one point. Most of the time you can either do everything with only one character, or you have to switch for that "reunite". Actual cooperation is very rare. Which is fine for singleplayer, probably, but not so much for co-op.

Overall it seems that the game is lovingly made, but sadly is not good enough to recommend. Looks abandoned as well (was updated two weeks after the release and then no updates for more than a year now).

At the time of this review, I've read every other review for the game. You'll notice that all but two negative reviews had the game booted up for 6-12 minutes, the remainder upset that there's a make your own gender option. There's a reason for that. The first few levels are simple, and therefore might bore you as they're more about teaching controls and mechanics than puzzles, aka a tutorial. The game ramps up after the first world...you know, like most other games.

Story- 7/10
It's cute, fluffy and nice. Just a sweet little lovestory about two peg zombies rising back to find thier pets and eat pancakes. It's told by a narrator, a sentence or two at a time before or after stages and during a few cutscene levels. Not going to challenge you, just something simple and nice to service the gameplay

Gameplay- 7/10
Puzzles start simple, get harder. You have your classic avoiding obstacles, pressing switches, sliding on floors, etc. The game never gets too hard, but it does ramp up difficulty over time and there's always another extra mechanic to keep things interesting, like painting floors before zombies can clear it or converting more peg people as tools or cover. Follows a World-level-stage format, with 3 stages per normal level. Main objective in the stage is always to unite,with secondary objective of getting the stack of pancakes behind an additional puzzle. You don't need all the pancakes, but will need certain totals before end of world, usually around half of what's there. There will also be a few pictures in each world as secrets, hidden in stages. Sometimes they're behind a puzzle, sometimes behind items, sometimes inside destructible objects, but often will take you a few runs to find. That's actually why I wound up reading every review, I was on the community tab since I couldn't find one in world 5.

Graphics and Music- 7/10
Visuals are quite nice with their cartoony peg-person style, but nothing to rave about. Serviceable and nice on the eyes while staying consistent throughout. Music is the same. Cheery, calming, helps you focus on some of the trickier levels. Something I don't mind listening to but not something I'm putting on purposely. There are a few instances though, especially in world 6, where the audio and the captions disagree.

Overall, a solid 7/10 game. Good lighthearted fun for a few evenings, especially if you have a friend or partner to play with. I got it in a bundle. $12 is a little steep, worth it but I'd probably price it around $10 for it personally. That doesn't matter much though, on sale it's like $3 and I'd definitely recommend picking it up. Well, as long as the few second sight of a 'custom' in the gender options isn't a deal breaker.

Love is Dead is a puzzle game about two zombies that are looking for their lovely pets. The game has 61 levels with some optional, easier levels in between. It offers both single-player and local co-op with 2 players, but since I only played in single-player mode, this review will be based on that.

- Collectibles to make the levels more challenging

- It's hard to finish levels that rely on diagonal movement

The main character might not look appealing since they are just "fat stickmen" without hands and feet, but the monsters, especially the ghost, look so adorable in this style. The backgrounds are made in a similar style as the models, albeit with more detail to make them stand out. The varied theme and level design also help to make not only each world but also each level differ from each other. It's always nice to see the variation that the game offers.

The story revolves around the premise that was given at the beginning of the game. Dialogues are voice dubbed with a clear and soothing sound, making it easier to listen. Some subtitles don't match with what the voice dub said, although luckily, the in-game dialogue is usually not important. It usually talks about either the story or the mechanics that the characters encounter, along with some tips on how to go through them. They are told in such a lovely way, making the zombies look innocent despite them doing something that might scare humans.

Gameplay
The game allows you to be in control of a pair of lovers which can be switched anytime you want. Each level has different objectives, but you usually have to do a combination of going through the obstacles, infecting humans, saving zombie pets, and meeting with your lover. Although some levels place both characters at the same spot, others spawn them in different spots, requiring you to switch between them to clear the level. You eventually need to reunite the couple in the end, with or without collecting a collectible beforehand.

Each level is divided into 3 segments, equaling to a different map and puzzle. A pancake collectible is usually hidden in each segment to give more challenge to the level. They are usually not hard to obtain, and although they are optional, you still need to collect some to progress the game. I enjoyed collecting them in my playthrough since the main game will be too easy without them.

Surprisingly, the game offers a lot of mechanics. It introduces a new mechanic at almost every level while still retaining some of the previous ones. However, everything will be scrapped once you reached a new world; the game will introduce a new mechanic that is unique to that world by then. Strangely, I never got overwhelmed with them - all mechanics are easy to learn and memorable.

Movement
Enemies are annoying to beat. Your character uses tile-based movement, and although it helps when you need to avoid enemies in narrow places, the same can't be said when you need to eat them. You need to bait them to attack before you can do that and enemies usually won't attack unless you stop running away. However, since the character has a slow acceleration speed, you'll most likely die from their attack before you can walk again if you decide to stop.

The tile-based movement also can prove to be problematic with the level design. Some level has rotating blades, which can be troublesome when you need to move your character diagonally. Since the game doesn't support walking diagonally, you need to press two buttons to achieve that, and sometimes, the character won't move to the right position. There was an occasion when the character moved to the top-right when I pressed both the down and right buttons in one of the levels. Luckily, there aren't many levels that require these mechanics.

Length and Difficulty
I finished the game in 8.6h. I spent the rest of my playtime finding some secret exits that can be used in speedrunning, which is not needed for achievement completion. One achievement is bugged in the game, which can only be fixed by installing an unofficial patch. As for the difficulty, it is on the medium side - some sections might annoy you, but you just need to replay the level a few times until you get the hang of it.

As someone who has played the i saw her[www.kongregate.com] series, flash games that were the prequel of this game, this one looks different but feel similar at the same time - it has a different look and mechanic, but level designs are still cleverly done. The introduction of some easy levels in between helps to refresh my brain, and the short levels help to urge you to keep going. I never got bored playing the game and always looked forward to seeing what each level will bring. I could definitely recommend the game, although not at a full price due to some problems that I mentioned.

Originally, I played this for 10 minutes, and was going to rate this negatively. I read a comment saying to play the game longer and to give it a chance to get out of the first tutorial world. I played more to give the game a shot and I still don't like it. The character movement is frustrating, the puzzles aren't really puzzles, and I'm just not having fun playing the game. But I gave the game a try and didn't like it. You might like it, but I can't recommend it

It is that lovely combination of spoopy and cutes. Quite the charming puzzle indie game with beautiful aesthetics, pleasant music, and fun puzzles - can't wait to try the local co-op! Love Is Dead is great mix of 'feel good' kind of game and quirky fun ♡

A Good casual game with 5+ different world and different gameplay. which can be plaid solo or in cooperative mode.

Each level has 3 stages with different objectives depending of the world or level.

Each regular level stage has a pancake for a little more challenging gameplay.

To finish the stage you need to be together your zombie lover again.

This game is absolutely fantastic! Its positivity and general good will are great for restoring faith in humanity. Or rather, faith in love-filled zombies. Anyways, this game is wonderful. It lets you choose both your and your partner's pronouns, as well as the colors of each character. And the positivity of this game is phenomenal! I have pretty nasty depression and anxiety, but if I turn on the game I always feel better by the time I finish a few levels. That said, there are a few tricky ones, like where you fight the pirate captain, and they can be frustrating, but for the most part, this game is just love and positivity during a zombie apocalypse. 12/10, I most definitely recommend. (To the devs, thanks for making such a great game! I hope all of you are out there living your best lives and having a blast.)

TL:DR - Fun but quickly repetitive and seems abandoned due to broken achievements and no word from the developer. Buy only if on sale.



I do enjoy this game however only in short bursts. Each chapter has a gimmick and rare they are seen in other chapters which is a shame.
Because of this it grows stale quite quickly specially with the voice-over even though you can mute can slow down a level actually ending back to the world-map.

The boss levels are really fun, and the bonus rooms are a nice change of pace, just wish they popped up abit more often.


The story is ok and some puzzles do need some thought put in them but some levels are easier than others even later into the chapter which I often find odd for games such as this.


For achievement hunters, don't bother. Some achievements pop up when you are nowhere close to even completing them or just for opening the game and it randomly popping up.
One achievement has been broken since July which the dev said they would fix in a few days which as you can guess has changed into months and appears to have been abandoned.

The game itself is a nice and cute puzzle game. Far from perfect, but it works. I see 3 reasons not to recommend it:
1. One achievement is bugged, if you're an achievement hunter, it's annoying. Fortunately there is an unofficial patch to fix this. But it shows that the dev doesn't care for the game, since it's an easy fix. There are also other bugs in the game but they don't affect gameplay.
2. Even though it's a puzzle game, many puzzles are not at all about figuring out the solution. You will need quick reflexes, which in my opinion, undermines the puzzle mechanics too much.
3. The game is not good at teaching you mechanics. Most of them are intuitive enough, but some of them can only be learned by experimenting, trial and error. Also you can't see the controls in any menu which is annoying, you gotta press random keys to see what things you can do with the keyboard.

If you find it heavily discounted or in some bundle, give it a go. Otherwise, I'd just skip this one.

Not a bad game, but there are bugs with the achievements. Thankfully, there's an unofficial patch, but you've got to support your game, developers!
