Plans for the next few updates
Hey everyone, thank you very much for the feedback so far! We've taken it all on-board and have a rough idea of what the next few updates should contain:

First update (this weekend):
- Fix for a memory leak caused by pressing the "restart" button from the pause menu. (This may also be causing the "fatal memory errors", but it's very hard to tell because we cannot recreate those errors at all on our end.)
- AI characters will drop all of the items they've picked up on the current level, which means you will have an incentive to kill them if you see them pick something up which you want! They will not drop gold or blessings.
- Fix for lightning orb SFX not being affected by the volume settings.
- Fix for the rage potion & tenacious blessing not giving increased damage.
- Fix for key bindings not being cancellable.

Second update (around 1-2 weeks):
- Improved melee combat, with the addition of an upwards swipe when pressing UP and ATTACK, and a downwards link-style drop attack when pressing DOWN and ATTACK in mid-air. This also makes for some interesting new melee weapons, such as a weapon which causes a shockwave when you drop-attack in to the ground.
- Allow for items in your inventory to be bound to certain hotkeys.
- Increased timer for AI characters using healing items. They already pause to use items, as they must access their inventory. The current pause is based on their "reaction time" variable, but should be increased none-the-less.
- Allow for items to be dropped from your inventory. This will allow you to drop your bad potions near AI characters and hope they drink them ;) as well as free up inventory space.
- Support for using the D-Pad to move.
- Shortened description of blessings to appear on screen when picked up, so that you do not need to check your inventory every time.
- Fix for character turning around when jumping against a wall.
- More items & blessings!

I hope these updates solve most of the gripes people have with the game, and if you have any further suggestions, please let us know.

Another few points:
- To those of you mentioning that aggressive AI characters should have different coloured shirts or look different in some way: this doesn't work with the game at all, and goes against what this feature is trying to achieve. But player customization is coming in a future update, so they will all look different!
- We do not plan to make AI characters toggleable. They are an integral part of the game.
- Different weapon sprites depending on the equipped weapon is definitely an option for the future, and will be looked in to.

Well what do you think about my suggestion of AI characters having random shirt/hair colors? That way to keep a track of who's good and who's not. I don't mean all characters of a certain AI looking a certain way, I mean unique for each one. So that you're able to keep a track of who's evil if you come across them again. You still won't know upon first meeting somebody.

so they will drop just the itens he gets on the level or all he has? weapon, potion rings

Whatever they spawn with, they will keep. Whatever they pick up, they will drop.

Aah! Fantastic! And what should we think of with player customization? Will there be like unlockable cosmetic items? For example: Kill 20 bats to unlock the bat hat?

That's the idea, yes!

I see how it is.

It seems I accidently included my actual message in the quote...

I think this is a good idea as a temporary solution, to eventually be replaced by proper character customization. We will look in to it. Thanks for the suggestion!

GAMESTOPPING BUG:

If you attempt to look at your inventory and the blessings afer picking up a blessing, the game does not let you go out of the inventory blessings screen. You can seem to still fire arrows (or at leaset here the sound effects) while your screen is locked.

I then get either a craash, or am forced to force close the app.

If you don't want to tone down the enemy human difficulty, maybe adding a visual indicator of how damaged they are (increasing amounts of blood on their shirt for example) could help make them more manageable. Would allow the player to make a more informed decision on whether to run or attack.

Can't seem to recreate this. Are you opening your inventory before hitting the blessing, or at the exact same time?

Awesome! I already love the game and I'm looking forward to future updates. Good work so far!

Hi Will,

Firstly, I've tested now on my main PC as well as the laptop (both win 10) - it seems to only be occuring on the laptop (LG 13Z94).

As soon as I load into the cave level 1, I open my inventory, go to the blessings, and get a crash (or somtimes no crash and I the screen just seems to freeze (i can hear the guy respond to my inputs, but not see anything).

If you want me to send you my dxdiag just let me know.

it really seems like the ai should be toned down a little. i can only make it to about floor 3 and then 2 or 3 spawn and never stop chasing me. they even heal and use their magic items, so i cant do anything to avoid death.
id really like to play and explore this game more, but i cant even view my new items i get without having an ai spawn on top of me and kill me.
(it seems like this is what alot of us want at this point. idk maybe you should consider adding a dificulty option where they change color depending on agrresion level?)
(Maybe only allow 1 or 2 to be spawned per floor??)
also sometimes they chase me and sometimes they do nothing, so is it random or is my game just bugging? should i just assume theyre all mini bosses and kill every single one on sight?
usually when one starts shooting me i just let it kill me and rerun, bc it feels like a bug ow often they chase and shoot :/
its such a nice game and there's a lot to explore and have fun with, but the ai are too relentless.

i also wanted to suggest a spelunky style in-between floors area, so that one can view items and blessings without the fear of being destroyed by ai or bats.

i have 22 hours and record and plan to vote positively on this game, so please don't take anything i say harshly, i am soely trying to critique and suggest :)

i have over 300 games on steam, including most of the roguelikes and roguelites, and i think that this is one of the better ones to date. please keep up the great work!!!
(oh, and i wanted to say that this feels alot like the game vagante, which you should check out if you don't already know.)

I agree with the small area between levels.

Like vagante and darkets dungeon - a bit of an area where you can just find some food or heal up at a fire.

Enemy humans are literally the only thing keeping me from playing the game right now. It's just not fun at all to lose every single game to these OP mobs that spawn constantly. One reason Roguelikes are fun is because in many of them you feel like you learn something each death and that you always had a chance at winning, but I NEVER get that feeling in this game, I know exactly what's going to kill me everytime and nothing I do seems to change that. I've tried running away from them but then I end up dying to the mobs I have to run through at top speed and missing out on all kinds of gear and money I have to pass which is not a fun way to play and will leave me significantly weaker at later levels, I've tried hiding from them and trying to let them kill each other but then more spawn and come and kill me in my hiding spot, I try fighting them but they are basically unlimited, how am I supposed to win with that strategy when I lose some HP each time I fight one and another is just gonna come along in 10 seconds at full HP. I'm not saying I want the game to get easier, I'm perfectly content getting my ass kicked constantly and dying thousands of times without a win, but I'd like the challenge to come from more than this 1 mob type. I understand you wanting to make them have an equal chance against the player and that's maybe why they are so strong, but as soon as you take into account that there is 1 player and an infinite number of them the advantage sways HEAVILY in their direction.

I see in your planned updates you want to add bosses every few levels, I don't understand the point of that when each level already has tons of bosses spawning constantly.
