If it were an action mappable through Steam VR, I believe it would be possible to set up the press to release, hold to change safety/fire selector configuration described above (which I would personally use; Excellent idea)
Guess it'd have to be native, given how it'd affect the way objects that don't use the safety/mag release button configuration are interacted with
Edit: Switched the streamlined controls option on, but the Y/B buttons (Oculus Touch) still toggle the analog sticks (as well as triggering their new functions).
I already reverted to the standard controls within Steam VR (even though my custom setup shouldn't affect this, as it still triggers the exact same actions); Is this an issue on my machine, or a bug?
Otherwise, joy-stick click, since it is not bound to any other action, can be for bolt release.
Teething problems aside, this feature has changed the game from being playable, to being fun to play, for me.
I can't give wholehearted praise, however, given that the difference really highlights the fact that over 50% of the VR playerbase has been using ill-suited controls up to this point.
But yeah, the B and Y button on the Oculus Rift will toggle the movement controls for TwinStick which means using said buttons to say, opening a breech loading gun, toggling the safety or toggling spawn lock in your inventory would toggle the movement controls on/off.
