RTX Flickering Bug, No Solution?
I updated my graphics card two days ago to a 4070. Wrong choice I guess since there is a constant shadow flickering in the game. I've searched high and low for solutions, tried turning off/tweaking settings. Nothing works. This is my favorite Watch Dogs game and it's now unplayable. If anyone has any ideas or solutions that worked please let me know.

As it happens with 7900XTX cards too its evidenitally a Game bug and not a driver bug, Nvidia is at an impass and needs devs at Ubisoft to work with to find the issue. However Nvidia has no devs at Ubisoft to work with because Ubisoft has fired/relocated all of them.

Its also suspected that its a denuvo bug due to outdated denuvo version not working well with modern hardware that gets "unexpected" performance. Watch Dogs 2 is abandonware and is only playable on older hardware.

Its an issue specific to RTX 4000 series and AMD RX 7000 series (or at least only 7900XTX), there exists no workarounds. RTX 3000 series cards are not affected. Graphics settings or other system components doesnt matter.

Using DXVK means you have to disable anti-cheat, which means no multiplayer - which is a lot of fun in this game....

Turning off Post Processing worked for me

Maybe send information to Nvidia so that they can fix it in the driver itself?

Pretty late to this but you only need to mess with this one setting.

OPTIONS
v
DISPLAY
v
GPU MAX BUFFERED FRAMES

Change it to "2" or below.

Flickering fixed.
To confirm or experiment, it is safe to max it out and lower it again, it won't crash your game.

What does that setting do?

Max pre-rendered(buffered) frames is a number of frames that were prepared by the CPU for the GPU.

In dumb-dumb terms. Renders the game ahead up to (the number of frames it is set, 1 - 5)

While you're at it, having V-Sync off helps as well.

Hope it helps and happy huntin you gray hats.

NOTE: This works for Watchdogs, Watchdogs 2 and Legion.
