Why did it fail so hard?
Rust: 20,000 players,
Fragmented: dead
Rust: Gather stuff, kill stuff, craft stuff, loot, build bases.
Fragmented ( I don't know, cuz I haven't played it) but it looks like exactly the same kind of survival stuff, but in a neat scifi setting.

So why did this fail so hard?

Marketing? Development pace?

What's weird is there's almost a whole game here.

Why not polish it up a bit in your spare time?

I mean if it's dead what incentive do they have? If I were the devs I would be pretty upset that my game is dead and Rust has 20,000 players, granted the entire rust community is toxic.

If they do work on it they need to do something DIFFERENT, and not just generic survival stuff.
Throw in some TEAM faction wars, I say this to almost every survival game dev, add teams, and faction battles. I mean like 2-3 major factions planetside style. There has yet to be a survival planetside style game. But this concept does not occur to any of the devs,
and don't tell me its a tech, or lag thing, you have what 40-100 people on servers anyway? all you are doing is adding some structure, and some objective, and making factions / teams.

@Christian2222 Actually thats not true. Allow me to point you in the direction of Pantropy. whilst they are moving away from the strictly survival based concept they are doing exactly as you say having faction based etc. in exactly this style of craft base build with pve and pvp mixed into quasi mmo

Done by amateurs.

Just hopping on the Ark Train without a concept.

Broken in every way.

HOW COULD THIS NOT FAIL?

What do you mean without a concept?! It's a complete scifi setting and apparently they are doing the faction wars thing.

the major reason is honestly was the bad taste from The Repopulation - now who was to blaim doesn't matter and I'm not getting into it - but allot of the earlier players who orginally backed Repopulation as a SWG2 paid allot of money for a mmo then when things happened (once again not getting into that part) we got Fragmented as a consolation prize - which at the time I was like I'm sure one of these games will work - some raged hard never gave it a chance just left negative reviews which started a snow ball of people not trying it - others however did give it a try (I really did) and found it to be pretty lacking at the time making more bad reviews

I mean I own allot of sandbox games and really would love to see a great sci fi oriented game but I just can't recommend this one - its just a ok game not great not truely terrible but kinda a play and then toss in a corner game - so add in the snowballing negative reviews since day 1 - the meh gameplay and you get..... current state
