Having Crashes on Caen?
The new updated Caen Outskirts has been found to push the technical limits of the game past their limits when running the game on ULTRA Graphics settings. If you are experiencing crashes on this map we have found a few workarounds that will reduce and/or eliminate the crashing issues while we update it on our end.

1. Reduce Texture Quality
In the Video Settings, select "Advanced Settings" and lower texture quality to High or even Medium. You will not notice a significant visual difference in game. You can keep the other settings to Ultra or High but the texture quality is the biggest user of Video Memory.

1. Reduce Audio Quality
In the Audio Settings, lower the Audio Quality from High to Low. You will not notice a significant difference in game, but this will alleviate some of the game's memory usage as well.

If you are still having issues or need any clarification, please comment below.

Could this ever be fixed? Could the textures used be optimised further? It sucks to have a pretty decent system that is let down by ancient UE3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Ahh, I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sick of old ass engines and their bloody limitations! It is like FONV Gamebryo all over again...

It pisses me off even more when TWI decides to put RS2 on UE3 crap too. Oh ♥♥♥♥ my life...

Hello! I've just downloaded HoTW mod and I have no problems joining the server but just after the server start screen (the one with the server rules and such) the games crashes. It happens after some seconds of loading, just before the Team Select screen. What could be the issue? For clarification, I play the game on custom specs, with almost everything lowered down to minimum but Textures Quality (medium) and I have tested the game on a vanilla RO2 map and it works as usual.

Shaggy, is this on all HOTW maps? Can you paste your log file to pastebin and link it here?

Logs are in your MyDocuments/MyGames/RO2/logs folder

http://pastebin.com/BUss9FqJ There it goes

I tested Omaha Beach too, and managed to play some seconds until it crashed again. I am afraid that maybe my computer can't run HoTW maps, although I never had problems running massive maps like Barashka, for example.

Nothing useful there but can you Go into ROEngine.ini located in C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\my games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config

Remove these lines.

Suppress=ScriptLog
Suppress=ScriptWarning
Suppress=Log

Play offline and online. When you crash Grab the Launch logs located in the Logs Folder Which is in the ROGame folder. Copy and paste the content of your logs to Pastebin.com. Link them here.

Ok the big one is the last few lines which is the memory error. Have you tried the fixes listef in the OP? The audio quality one cuts out a ton of overhead memory but with your system I might try both.

♥♥♥♥, so is this system Ram related or VRAM?

I have lots of both, lol. So am I screwed? Damn UE3...

Could this problem ever be fixed?

It's due to 32 but RAM limitations and the fact the game is programmed to crash rather than say revert textures to the parent material.

Never have had so many crashes like on this map and i have 16 gig ram(system) and 4 gig graficcard.

Games 32 bit which is the issue. Can only use 3GB. Change textures from ultra to high. TWI programmed the game to crash rather than use default textures.

I managed to play Omaha and Carentan in an online server with 8 or 9 guys and bots reducing EVERY possible setting to the lowest, including audio quality and channels. No problems so far.

The only map that has been causing any issues is Caen, you should be able to run the others like any vanilla map.

Reduce setting because only 1 buggy map ????? Better fix the map ! RO2 have so many maps but only caen is so unplayable buggy.

Bloody lazy ass TWI. They need to wake up big time.

I hate those damn Ram limitations. It is like it is a bloody console port for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake...

I remember how Fallout: New Vegas had those problems. Crash after 2GB of VRAM was used. However, that engine was ancient and the game ceased updates by 2012.
