Unwanted friend invites
I keep getting friend invites by people i dont know from the other side of the globe for a few months now. They all share one thing: They seem to play only or mostly TF2. Some are even pure trade accounts. The problem is: I rarely play TF2 and cant imagine that I have anything worth trading. And are users that are not in my friends list even able to see my inventory ?

My TF2 inventory atm contains:

Earbuds (Lvl 1 Hat)
Vintage Killing Gloves of Boxing (Level 7 Boxing Gloves)
Vintage Sandvich (Level 1 Lunch Box)
Ellis' Cap (Level 10 Hat)
The Frying Pan (Level 5 Frying Pan)
Alien Swarm Parasite (Level 20 Hat)
The Family Business (Level 10 Shotgun)
Secret Saxton (Level 1 Gift)
Noise Maker - Winter Holiday (Level 5 Party Favor)
The Legend of Bugfoot(Level 12 Costume Piece)
The Killing Gloves of Boxing (Level 7 Boxing Gloves)
Vintage Pyrovision Goggles (Level 74 Pyrovision Goggles)
4x Moustachium Bar (Level 1 Fishcake Fragment(

Probably sharks after your earbuds. Just ignore the invites unless you know you've played with them recently and such.

Yeah earbuds are a promo used in TF2 trading. But try to ignore them.

Fine if its the earbuds....i dont need them as i dont play TF2 and could trade them away if that solves the problem...

I get 5-10 invites daily:

60% want my HOUWAR.
20% want Max's Head, Earbuds or Bill's Hat.
15% want stuff for free.
5% ask for a game.

You're not alone, make your profile or backpack private.

Before you decide to give them away or something keep in mind they're about $30-35 street price. At least that's what a lot of people are paying. That way you could trade it for a game or something you actually want and would enjoy.

I never liked the idea of having to add someone as a friend just to trade with them, and it seems like something that should be looked at and discussed about. If people wanted to trade, there would be an option for that alone. The need to add someone just for their stuff isnt much of a friendship, more like the opportunity to 'mooch galore.'

I havent run into many so far, but the friends Ive got through the want to trade have been good people and I have kept in touch with them fairly well. I say when playing a game, just take the time to get to know them as you're going along, and it helps to have a mic in that case so you arent frantically typing if you choose to do so. Of course, many people arent used to people just wanting to make friends, like this friendly guy, and in fact will likely subjugate their positions into particular people many of us might recognize, but if you are actually able to talk to them, you might find a friend that can actually put the "Team" In Team Fortress 2.

Your buds are worth like $40(according to the market) so keep that in mind when trading...

Supply and demand.
Also rarity.
No, not the worst pony.

I send friend requests to players I play with who actually know how to play the game, so that I can join them in games and invite them to games later. If you're a good player, maybe this is where some of your random requests are coming from? Who knows
