New players would be tricked

It makes it clear that it's a rename
Seriously, someone has to complain about every little thing, those quotation marks don't affect gameplay and are helpful to new players

This. Also, some players would add "#1" to the end of a name and pass it of as craft #1.
they're called quotation marks.
Not to mention, I think it adds flair.

No, they're not.
"Speech marks" aren't even a thing to begin with.

Why am I seeing so many people being called out for being americans lately?

Because it's a common stereotype that Americans are arrogant to the world around them.

So you admit it's a stereotype, but you use it anyways?

I'm going to be honest. You said speech marks. That made me think you meant accents, because nobody knows what those were called, so I was confused. He's not being arrogant, your statement was just confusing. Sometimes you should just accept help to learn if no harm was meant (even if you don't actually learn anything).

Anyways, I think you figured out why they add quotation marks, by now.

Oh the sheer amount of irony. The person who claims he isn't American (probably meaning that he isn't arrogant) is using an American stereotype that Americans are arrogant to the world around them.

*facepalm*
