Theif Promo Items Question

I'm thinking about pre-ordering the game "Theif" just so I can get the new promo items that come with it. The problem is that I don't know if pre-ordering the game and saving it as a gift in my Steam inventory will guarantee me the new promo items. So I was wondering, if I pre-order the game and save it in my inventory as a gift, will I still get the new promo items?

P.s. In case you are wandering, no, I do not want the actuall game itself. I just want the promo items that come with it. I was gonna re-sell the game on Outpost after I get the promo items. That's IF it's possible to get the promo items, of course.

A good friend of mine has bought it for me as a gift. Then he gave it to me. I added it to my library. Then I start TF2 and got the items.
So. You will get them when you add the game to your library.

(This is just from what I've read before, don't hate me if it isn't true.)
When you buy a game in the preorder phase, and put it in your inventory, it retains the preorder items from TF2. So if you buy it, keep it in your inventory, then redeem it ten months later, you should still get the stuff.
