(BUG-REPORT) NAMETAG EXPLOIT 2024

me and a friend found an interesting exploit when messing around with nametags afew days ago that allow you to apply anything onto any nameable item in the game and it doesn't matter if the symbols are invalid or broken you can apply them

this is the second attempt to spread the message or showcase this exploit

i tried to apply it on steam support but didn't really work out they just gave me auto messages but they said i shall make a forum post because tf2 devs ususally check these they said.

its not the most gamebraking exploit but it creates invalid or broken items quite are probably gonna be used for sharking or prehaps even scamming people so its better to leat people know about it or to let devs know about it so it can probably be patched or looked into

you can create names such as invisable ones, very long ones, words that stick out of the name screen, moving the "" and even removing them or name things upside down or backwards.

i do not think that the devs check here At All but hey that's a cool find and i will now spend my money on name tags and use this to get people confused

honestly me neither, steam support just keep giving me auto messages whenever i try to reachout

they pretty much don't care about anything that's not game breaking, they'll probably fix it in the upcoming 2029 update.
Plus the bug is not that crazy, all it does is allow you to put invisible characters. No symbols that'll take half your screen or anything like that.

kind of a fun bug also yeah.. im sure nobody would care about this flaw or bug it probably wont be mentioned or noticed by any dev

i mean the devs would definitely thank you but i'm not sure if they would give you a hat, hats or items have be given to players finding game-breaking or economy-breaking glitches and bugs. nothing less

i mean the devs would definitely thank you but i'm not sure if they would give you a hat, hats or items have be given to players finding game-breaking or economy-breaking glitches and bugs. nothing less

think the only people this would effect would be the glitched market or traders who do buy these type of stuff or people who just want to own something unqiue

im quite sure people would shark others or tryna flip these items for profit such as offering "glitched" items for stuff that are way more expensive and since people ususally know that few glitched items can be worth a fortune some would probably accept these and get themself scammed or ripped off and the people who do sell these items would just repeat it until they cant

its good to let people know about this exploit because these items aint really worth anything becuase anybody can do this.

Valve probably don't care about this as it's harmless. People aren't crashing servers or getting a guaranteed unusuals that'd nuke the "economy" that's propped up by a fraction of a fraction of this community.

They also don't read the forums.

ive been messing around with this a bit but cant seem to figure out how to get rid of the quotes "" on an item, or how to stretch a blank description, any pointers?
