My short re-re-review :)
So i played a lot more after the AI bug was fixed. And the AI indeed works,i lost a few games on impossible difficulty. The AI imho got many flaws, but it works well enough and is threatening.

(slight spoilers ahead)
Finally I settled on hard difficulty, large map , Katraxi race and played until i had the majority of the galalxy by far and defeated the Rigellians and Arcturians. The game atm got many quirks and bugs and issues, but somehow each time i sat to it , i couldnt stop playing, wanted to play one more turn, which imho is the most important criteria. Its such a complex and vast game, full of atmosphere, with all the races, the elder races, the tech tree, ship design... It was great fun, marred by the bugs and issues, tough i must say it never crashed, as far as stability goes.

In short imho the biggest issues atm are:

1- In tactical combat often for some reason the ships cant hit the planetary defenses, they just sit there doing nothing, its very frustrating. Other times it works fine. The issue seems to be with beam wepaons, i started fiting a few missiles just to work around that problem.

2- The performance, Starting with middle game, the performance is a nightmare. I havent got the newest computer, but its still an older I7 4ghz with 16gb of ram and GeForce RTX 2070. The transitions between planet screens to the galalxy could take up to 5 seconds. And issuing any command on the planet 4-5 seconds... It was absolutely painfull. I dare to say not many as crazy as me poeple will have the patience to deal with it, even if they have fun with the game. I understand its prolly hard to optimize, but i dont see how this game can gain mass appeal if its so painfully slow. The end turn procerssing doesnt hurt me so much, but the transitions between screens and issuing commands was near game breaking at times.

I will try to post more of the bugs i encountered in details with screenshots later.
So thanks for the game devs, and i hope you will polish this rough gem into something exceptional, which imho it can be.

Hi with tactical it’s intended to use missiles and bombs to hit planets. But I may rebalance that so beams have reduced effectiveness but can be used. Especially now that ranges are more balanced.

Some more performance optimizations will be coming with the next patch. That’s going to be a slow chipping away at it.

Feel free to send a save to contact@rhombus-studios.net with those bombardment cases and a game with your late game performance issues.

Performance does seem to have slowed. The Empire display F1 and Build Displays seem to be the worst. The game will just pause for a seemingly exaggerated period of time. Even with a medium size galaxy and a 4 planet empire F1 is slow to open. The F4 Planet list is popping up very quickly. At one time that display ran slow. I will send a save file that seems to be affected.

Hi moto from your save I was able to narrow down a dyson sphere-colony base check that wasn't needed was being called and was effecting your save.

I'll make sure that doesn't cause any unintended issues before doing a hotfix with that performance update.

Edit- Same thing in your game is causing a slower build queue load so I'll take a look at possible causes in the morning.

I think allowing only missiles and bombs to hit planets is ok, as long as there is a clear info about it and it isnt the case like now that once it works with beams once it doesnt. Will send the saves, thanks.

Thanks Ace, that fixed my game. F1 and Build Display are back up to speed. Hopefully that benefits other players games.
