We keep working on Hidden Folks to make sure things run as smooth as possible! Have a suggestion or need a bug fixed? Make a post on the forums and we'll look into it!

Hidden Folks v2.0.3 - June 4th, 2020 - the On Tour update

New:
  • Added a 5 music themed areas with 70+ things to find as part of the base game.
  • Removed the Beach areas as a DLC and included it in the base game.
  • Removed all textual and nearly all visual references to native american cultures to reduce cultural appropriation.
  • Removed the Join Discord buttons from the game. But we still love you Discord!
  • Added more dance animations.
  • Added build number to the settings screen.
Improved:
  • Unity deprecated the launcher window (where you could pick a resolution and customize controls) so I added both a toggle to go in and out of fullscreen and a resolution slider to the settings screen.
  • Allow input from more controllers instead of just one (for when you have 2 controllers connected, and try to use the one that was randomly initialized second.)
  • The button to open the option panel stays in the target bar when you switch to controller input, and you can even scroll to it and away from it!
  • Optimized the perfomance of many scripts in the game, improving the game's perfomance overall.
  • Changed the theme and therefore the order of the areas in the game.
  • Updated to Unity 2019.3.10.
  • Notarized macOS app.
  • Updated various translations.
Fixed:
  • Fixed some rogue button hovers when switching between mouse + keyboard and controller input.
  • Fixed touches not being recycled when [Alt] + [Tab]'ing out of the game while touching the screen (on Windows computers with touch).
  • Fixed camera sometimes rotating a tiny bit.
  • Fixed characters getting the right arms curvature for the animation they're assigned.
  • Fixed some bugs related to events that could only happen in the last level of the game.
  • Fixed some incorrect translations.

Hidden Folks v1.6.7 - August 28th, 2019 - minor updates for upkeep purposes

Improved:
  • A few clues were improved or rewritten.

  • Updated Rewired Input plugin, allowing for more different controllers.
  • Updated Steamworks SDK.

Fixed:
  • The interface should now always show up in-game. Convenient.
  • A few layer issues throughout the game should now be resolved.
  • Added a few missing translators.

Hidden Folks v1.6.4 - November 3rd, 2018 - fixing layering issues

Fixed:
  • Many (obvious) sorting issues throughout the game should now be resolved. If you spot one, let us know!

Hidden Folks v1.6.2 - October 31th, 2018 - minor bug fixes

Improved:
  • Some translations got a spelling check and their clues rewritten.
  • Added a few missing translators to the credits scene. Hello there!
  • Updated to the latest Unity LTS version, possibly fixing a few bugs on macOS.
  • Updated controller plugin (Rewired) for better controller support.
  • Updated localisation plugin (I2Loc) for a slightly better startup performance.
Fixed:
  • Various sorting issues throughout the game. If you spot one, let us know! This is truly an ongoing battle for us, and with over a hundred thousand manually placed objects, there will always be sorting issues we haven't spotted.

Hidden Folks v1.6.0 - October 24th, 2018 - The Beach DLC

New:
  • Added a 5 beach-themed areas with 60+ things to find as DLC.
  • Added a Beach areas completion achievement.
  • Removed all forms of analytics. What was there was already anonymous and 100% about gameplay, but with GDPR regulations I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  • Added a few extra sounds from the Beach DLC to the sound pack. Oh that pelican sound...
Improved:
  • Optimised the game a LOT and it should run better than ever. Less draw calls, better culling of audio and gameplay scripts, object pooling, etc. The game should now be able to run even faster than 60 fps on high end computers!
  • The game now allows for much more zooming out.
  • Translations of clues were improved here and there.
  • The game will now tell you when you've completed everything you own but there are still areas as DLC. Convenient, right?
  • Reduced the Dopler effect on sounds. It was weird, right?
Fixed:
  • Fixed many sorting issues throughout the game.
  • Removed Pika character from the game, as the holder of the IP didn't like it. ;( rip

Hidden Folks v1.5.3 - May 17th, 2018 - fixed touch input on Windows

New:
  • Added toggle to change the scale of the interface.
  • Replaced the 'subscribe for more areas' form at the end of the game with a button to the website.

  • Fixed mouse inertia.
  • Fixed touch input recognition on computers with touch screens.

New:
  • Set the position of the targets panel to the bottom (default), left, or right.
  • Reset a single area through the settings screen from within an area.
Improved:
  • The area selection screen now scrolls horizontally. Prettier on your big screen, right?
  • Adjusted minimum and maximum zoom levels. You can zoom in a bit more.
  • The interface now scales down depending on your screen size. I will introduce a settings button for that later.
  • When you first start an area, the game will try to frame the area inside the view more accurately now.
  • Some minor optimisations so that the game runs smoother.
  • The in-game options panel is now part of the targets bar!
  • You can now also scroll to the options and the text that tells you how many targets you have to find to unlock the next area.

Fixed:
  • Various small sorting issues.
  • Some cars in the suburbs and city disappeared and appeared randomly. No longer.

Fixed:
  • Fixed a gazillion sorting issues throughout the game. We found these issues thanks to Steam users Bucketsmith, Phaota, Prezombie, DNF, ZenWidjet, caga, Pavocado, Gameboyalex, and Lloydo! Thanks boys and girls, and if you spot any more, let us know!
  • Fixed mouse input not working in fullscreen for many Linux users. Thanks to the Unity game engine team for fixing it!

  • Clues no longer pop up when you have the options menu open.

  • 8 new languages: Arabic, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Czech, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
  • New icon (with transparency wowowow).
  • Added another quality option to the launcher.
  • The game now fades out before you quit. So smooth.
  • New language interface. (flags don't represent languages)

+ Minor text fixes

You've GOT to included.

PS: love the February 15th Patch notes. Might be the biggest patch notes ever to exist.

Yup! Should be fixed now, as seen in the changelog ;)
I really like this game but any timeline on when the locked levels will be available?
I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to tell you the date yet (IT'S SOON THO, TRUST ME) but keep in mind that there will be coming more features and also maybe new maps you don't know about yet!
Yay. I am so glad to hear that. I really enjoy this game and want to play more.
Are there any hints as to when we'll get more levels?

Thanks for the updates! Definitely going to try and complete the new areas. :tdealwithit:
I understand that the game is complete, will there be a DLC ??? If so, I will definitely buy it. The game reminded me of the game - Where is Wally (Where's Waldo?).
